I was wondering if anyone knew how to find out what happened to a relative who died on the way to America.
His name was Ole Berntsen. He was almost 2 years old, date of birth July 7,1871, father was Bernt Anderson and Mother was Karen M Christiansdatter. They left Norway April, 1871 on the PONTECORVO and on the way to Quebec he died. I cannot find any information if and where he was buried or maybe they bury them at sea in this case.

Born July 1871, and the parents left Norway in April 1871? Then he would be born in America...
Guess you mean born 1869? Without knowing it for sure, I would say it is very likely that he would be buried at sea in that case.

Actually they sailed from Oslo/Kristiania in 1873 and they had TWO young sons with them when they left, listing that they had previously lived in Eidsvoll, Akershus.

This is probably the Ancestry.com record for the family. The orginal manifest is a little hard to intrepret. It has a name column and probably one for age, He is listed as 30. The next column seems to be adults, It lists 2, next column might be for children, looks like it listed some number which has been written over and a 0 posted, the next column would appear to be infants and has a one in this column. The last column has Eidsvold posted in it.
