Hello,

Can anyone tell me where this town/village is located? I seem to be having trouble finding it's location exactly.

Dønum/Dønnum is not a village but several farms i Eidsvold municipality, Akershus county.

Spelled Dønum 1865 and Dønnum 1900

I understand you among others are looking for Karen Mathea Christiansdatter b. Jan. 27. 1849 and that you have found her conf. record on Oct. 23. 1864.
She lived on farm Fraurud when she was confirmated.

Her mother Olea Kristofersdatter married Micael Larsen Fraurud and Karen Mathea used his name Micaelsdatter in the1865 census but later she went by Karen Larsen.

Hi yes, thank you :) We are also looking for her father, Christian Olsen. He had another family in Donum. Karen had a sister born in November of the same year 1849 named Maren. I have been in contact with a relative and we were both looking for more information on the family. We don't know if he died before the family came to the US and is buried in Norway, but we are told her died in 1872. He was born in 1825/1826.

I deleted a posting above when I found the right Karen Mathea.

I saw Karen living on Dønum when she was conf. 1864 on the same day as Karen Mathea.
Karens mother was Marthe Larsdatter, and Karen was born out of wedloc as Karen Mathea, both father was Christian Olsen

But in 1865 on Dønumskeen Christian Olsen was married to Marthe Larsdatter with 5 children 1865 ??

Need to be looked better into tomorrow.

Not sure where or when or if Christian Olsen died in Norway.
His wife em. 1872 on ship Tjøme with 4 children, dest Lanesboro, Minn? link
She was rec. as G (Gift) Married, could be an error.

Perhaps Christian Olsen em. earlier to America?

Yes, that is a possibility as well. Maybe I should check into that route. He could have left earlier.

When Olaf b. 1854 was confirmated on Oct. 18. 1868 Christian Olsen Dønum still lived.
Anton Edvard age 17 who em. alone on ship Oder April 16.1869 as Anton Kristiansen DØRUM, dest was Sparta.

Cant find any death record on Christian Olsen Dønum in Eidsvold.
Family story tells he died just before the family em. 1872.

If Christian Olsen Dønum died in Eidsvoll he should be rec. in the death protocols/probate for Eidsvoll Magistrate district 1863-1903.

The last rec. of Christian Olsen is the 1865 census so the protocol starts Feb. 7. 1965 link
Left column; Deceased
Middle column; Date
Right column; Heirs.
Same setup on right page

Civil staus of Inger Mathea Larsdatter; Enke (Widow)

An brief explanation of some of the word used as civil status in the protocol;
- Forældrene; Parents
- Enkemand; Widover
- Enke; Widow
- Børn; children
- Datter; Daughter
- Søn; Son
