Did Norwegian relatives marry each other in the 1600s. I am finding some people that I think are ancestors, and when you look through it looks like they married people who are eithe r siblings or cousins. For instance on this link I can find an ancestor, and then they look like either siblings or cousins to other ancestors.http://records.ancestry.com/ole_ellingson_nordre_records.ashx?pid=53438224 |

You'd better explain the relationships you think you see - difficult for others to understand how you arrived at such conclusions. |

Prior to 1800 it was against the law in Norway to marry one’s second cousin or the second cousin of one’s deceased spouse, or anyone who was closer related than that. In addition it was illegal to marry one’s stepparent or an in-law, or their direct descendants. It was, however, possible to obtain a Kongelig bevilling (royal permission) to marry one’s second cousin. Royal permission was still required if one wanted to marry the widow of one’s brother or the widow of one’s uncle, and it remained illegal to marry one’s stepparent, an in-law, or their direct descendants. Earlier this year someone asked about incest and received the following reply - For incest it was death penalty or forfeiture of the entire wealth and criminal work.
It is more likely that you are either confused with Norwegian traditional naming or looking at a family tree that was very very poorly researched.

When I click on the link you provided it takes me to a page on Ancestry.com for a
Ole Ellingson Nordre with the folllowing information attached.
Born on 1713 to Elling Olson Vangen and Kirsten Iversdatter Vangen. Ole Ellingson married Anne Larsdatter and had 2 children. He passed away on 1796. One of his children Iver Oleson Nordre Born in Faadalen, Norway on 1746 is also listed.
Since Ole Ellingson Nordre passed away in 1796 he can not be found in the 1801 Norwegian Census. However his spouse Anne Larsdatter and the son Iver Olsen, his wife and ten of their children can be found, along with a brother Knud Ellingson.
1801 Census
What is it about this family that makes you think that there is some intermarriage among them.

The other son is listed as Elling Olson Vangen. This is likely him and his family in the 1801 Norwegian Census.

There are at least five Family Trees on Ancestry.com for this family and of varying degrees of completness. However giving them a quick glance does not show any obvious intermarriages. There is the usual possibility of confusin because of the large number of family members using some variation of Ole, Elling and Iver, as either the first name or with sen or son ending as the last name. Here is a brief look at the Family Tree.
Ole Ellingson Nordre Birth 1713 Death 1796
married to
Anne Larsdatter Birth 1711 Death 1802 in Tynset, Hedmark, Norway
Two children
Iver Oleson Nordre Birth 1746 in Faadalen, Norway Death 16 May 1817 in Tynset, Hedmark, Norway
Elling Olson Vangen Birth 1749 in Tynset, Hedmark, Norway Death 2 Feb 1831 in Tynset, Hedmark, Norwa
And then connecting with wives, children etc. |

It may be that the OP is referring to some of the ancestors of the above people, who have similar names. For example one of the trees has this.
Elling Olson Vangen Birth 1749 in Tynset, Hedmark, Norway Death 2 Feb 1831 in Tynset, Hedmark, Norwa
Married
Kirsten Iversdatter Vangen Birth 1690 Death 1764
Her parents are listed as
Iver Faadalen Birth 1660 Death 1724 and
Marit Iversdatter Birth Death
Perhaps the use of the Iver names leads the OP to think the father and mother are related. From Ancestriy.com also
Kirsten Iversdatter Vangen Born on 1690 to Iver Faadalen and Marit Iversdatter. Kirsten Iversdatter married Elling Olson Vangen and had a child. She passed away on 1764. Family Members
