Hi,

Is there a way we can find the actual address of a house from the census record?

Merci,

What country are you asking about?

An old farm name was the address in many areas. A farm in a rural part of Norway can often be located if it is still there. A building in a Norwegian city also might still be there.

A specific house might take more investigation than just a census -- or might not. Your question would need to be more specific.

I would like to locate this house (a more modern house:

and this house (I think it's a farm):

Well, you could try searching for this greaker, tune at www.1881.no. All the greaker locations I saw appear to be absorbed in a town. However, Bentemyr is still there and Lundestad (where one of the Anne Tolfsdatters lived) is also. Kart = Map Hybrid overlays aerial photos over the map.

Humm, that doesn't help too much.

I would like, for example, to find the farm #31a3 in Greaker, Tune.

Greaker is the farm. It may not exist today. You will want an historical picture from back in the day of 1900-1910. At least using the modern site you can visualize was the neighborhood was like.

Okay here is the Tune History organization, lots of email addresses there for your request:

Greager, todays Greåker, is both an urban and industrial area that started in the 1800s, so I doubt the farm exist.

I have pictures of this house (which still exists today: http://gda.arkivverket.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=5&filnamn=f00130&gardpostnr=632&personpostnr=4155

I also have the occupents names that lived there in the 1990s.. All I'm missing is the address... :-(

Considering the size of Greaker, who could I contact to help me finding that house?

Jakobine Robertsdatter was living at Greåker østre in 1910. That farm has the number indicated in the 1900 census. Link.

Can you share the picture of the house?
I believe the location would be near this postal address: Greåkerveien 170, 1718 Greåker.

Sure, here it is:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/bljf247x73b5pqg/house.jpg?dl=0

It's was built in 1830, so it should be near the center of Greaker. So near the post office would make sense I guess.
