I thought that would probably be the case, but I'm hoping that my explanation will also encourage Pam to try it herself.

The link worked for me. But a few weeks ago familysearch was presenting all sorts of problems. One person I know had to switch browsers to Chrome in order to be able to access their images...

As to the marriage record, there are generally two kinds of marriage records, civil and church. So the church that the children were baptized in was possibly where they married. It might show up in the ELCA database or might not. The civil records are held at the county level.

Even if either type are not online they may still be in the flesh on the ground at both the church and courthouse. According to Handbybook, Fillmore county was formed in 1853 has marriage records from 1865 and birth and death records from 1870.

Thank you for your help in using family search. I'll try it today as you suggest. Norway's digital search is tricky. Will keep at it though.

My maiden name is Melbostad with ancestral farm Melbostad in Gran. I have information on the three farms including Marie' family and the farm they came from. Also says Brede is from Tinglestad. Maybe you have all this. Would be nice to compare. The person who wrote all the information is connected to your family and is a doctor living in Ski. My family is another branch . Sue Melbostad Erickson.

Hi Sue. It's nice to meet you! Is the dr. you are referring to named Jan Melbostad? If so, he was kind enough to send me a copy of his book on the Melbostads. Do you know how far Melbostad farm is from Tinglestad? More than likely, Brede and Maria would of known each other, right?

On this map I have marked the farms, click on the markers to see the farm names. (note that todays writing is Tingelstad, Melbustad and Moldstad).
You can zoom and pan to your liking.

Yes it is Jan Melbostad who also sent me the information. And you are more closely connected to him with the Midtre Melbostad farm. I am connected to the Nordre Melbostad farm just down the road. I see the Melbostad name a lot in Minnesota and are always asked if we are connected. I say yes and some closer than others. Maria is my second cousin once removed's wife's aunt! Sue

Very kind of you, eibache, to post that map to benefit Pam and Sue. That's awesome.
