The following searches on Gemini AI turns up the following information.

The ancestral Kallestadbaken (Kallestadbakken) farm is located in the modern municipality of Vaksdal within Vestland county (historically Hordaland), Norway. The name translates to "the hill/slope of the Kallestad farm," sitting directly along the Kallestadsundet strait where the Indre Osterfjord and Veafjorden meet, near the village of Stamnes. Historically associated with the Grindheim parish, the farm area is situated right on the mainland facing the northeastern tip of Osterøy island. Over the years, parts of the property lines became known as Øvstebø (or Østerbø).The interactive map below marks the geographic location of the primary Kallestad farm system where Lars Henriksen was born:

Satellite & Topography Views: To view exact parcel boundaries, modern roads, and old structures, search for "Kallestad" or "Øvstebø (Vaksdal)" directly on Norgeskart, the official map database of the Norwegian government.

There are places called Kallestad all over Norway, and potentially just as many Kallestadbakken. (Meaning the hill close to Kallestad.) If the records indicate Etne, it is better to keep looking there.

Etne is three hours' drive South of Bergen, while Vaksdal (the AI's find) is located an hour North East of Bergen.

I have a map book covering Sogn og Fjordane, Hordaland and Rogaland (I believe it is an older edition of this one) which is nice for genealogical purposes since practically all farms are shown. I have uploaded a snapshot I took from the page with Etne here. Kaldestadbakken is located close to the center of the image. The same location is indicated on a map in Etne-Soga: Snapshot.

Finally, here is the farm on Norgeskart, which in my opinion is the best online interactive map to find Norwegian farms.

Hello dmikeh, it seems we both have Lars Henryson as a great, great grandfather. Did you find/see anything interesting on your trip to Norway? Do people share family trees? Anyways, this website and the people in this thread have been so much help. Tusen takk! Melissa
