Greetings I am attempting to locate information on my ancestors.
Anne Sirine Gulbrandsdatter (1832-1867) is my Great-Great-Grandmother. She married Peder Pederson (1821-1888/9) in May 1850 in Elverum, Hedmark, Norway. They had 4 children all in Elverum, Hedmark, Norway. On 21 May 1867 they boarded the Nor in "Christiania" (which I believe is current day Oslo) and arrived Quebec Canada 14 July, then later moved to Texas.
I am seeking any information available on these families in Norway. I feel if i can find living members in Norway they may be able to assist me in finding more family, as well as the information as to what happened to Anne.
I have found several documents, however I have been unable to find death records on Anne. I am not sure if she died at sea or in Canada, I just know she did not migrate south to the US with Peder and the children.
I have this info on Anne and Peder...
Anne Sirine Gulbrandsen Norway Baptisms Name: Anne Sirine Gulbrandsen Gender: Female Birth Date: 02 Mar 1832 Christening Date: 11 Jun 1832 Christening Place: ELVERUM,HEDMARK,NORWAY Father's Name: Guldbrand Embretsen Mother's Name: Juliane Evensdr Peder Pedersen Norway Baptisms Name: Peder Pedersen Gender: Male Birth Date: 23 Jul 1821 Christening Date: 12 Aug 1821 Christening Place: , ELVERUM, HEDMARK, NORWAY Father's Name: Peder Pedersen Mother's Name: Joron Tollevsdr
Thanks in advance for any assistance. Jeani Olson |

This looks like the family in the 1880 US Census. The person called Trina here seems to fit somewhat with your Anne Serine. Could she be using the name Trina and haved moved to Texas.

Peder Pedersen and Thrine seemed to have had several children in Texas including this one, who seems to match the Anne in the 1880 Census posted just above. Clifton Texas is in Bosque County, Texas.
Anne Serine Pedersen in the U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Records, 1875-1940 Name: Anne Serine Pedersen Event Type: Baptism Birth Date: 10 Jan 1874 Baptism Date: 3 May 1874 Baptism Place: Clifton, Texas Father: Peder Pedersen Mother: Thrine Pedersen Church Name: Our Savior's Lutheran Church Location: Clifton, Texas

Thanks so much, I have all the information after 1867 and I have been to Bosque County several time. Anne never made it to Bosque she is buried either at sea or in Canada. Peder married Trine in Texas and she raised his 4 children that he had with Anne. Ina, my great-grandmother (buried in Texas on the family ranch), was one of the 4 she raised. they had some other children after marrying in Texas. I have visited the cemetery there and searched the church records for Anne SIrine Gulbrandsdatter Pedersen, but she is not there. I believe she is buried in Canada, but i am unable to locate; hence the thoughts of buried at sea. |

The parents of Gulbrand Embretsen are probably Embreth Andersen and Siri Gubrandsdatter. This is likely his baptism record.
Gulbrand Embretsen in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927 Name: Gulbrand Embretsen Gender: Male Baptism Date: 15 jul 1798 Baptism Place: , Elverum, Hedmark, Norway Father: Embreth Andersen Mother: Siri Gulbrandsdr FHL Film Number: 124281
This is likely the family in the 1801 Norwegian Census.

It is interesting that in the emmigration record from Elevrum the family listed Texas as their destination. Number 34 under Peder Pedersen Lian. They left with two adults and four children.
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8895&idx_id=8895&uid=ny&idx_side=-273
They arrived using the name Lian. The record lists three adults and three chldren. Perhaps they considered the oldest child an adult?
Peder Lian in the Canadian Passenger Lists, 1865-1935 Name: Peder Lian Date of Arrival: Jul 1867 Vessel: Nor Search Ship Database: Search for the Nor in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database Port of Arrival: Canada |

The 2nd link about the emmigration is nice....i wish i could read the words before "anne sirine"....the 16 year old daughter "Ina" is my great-grandmother.....she married Gulbrand Hans (Flakstad) Olson....I was told that when he arrived in Corpus Christi Texas from Norway they told him his name was too long and he needed a shorter name. I am still looking got verification on that....it is interesting to say the least.

Yes, thank you so much. I have visited St Olaf several time. I have pics of all the headstones and any printed material they offer. I have met many relatives that still live in that area, I just have a need to find Anne Serine. I have a book written by Ina's (Emma) descendants from the Holdsworth side of the family, however they did not include much of her life. I have been told that someone out there has the route in which they traveled from Canada south to Bosque County Texas. I very much appreciate all the help ya'll have shown me thus far. Thank you!
