Hello,

trying to find out Ole's family history from Norway for my brother in law's family:


BIRTH JULY 31, 1899 • Bergen, Hordaland, Norway
DEATH MARCH 15, 1973 • Lake Mills, Winnebago, Iowa, USA
great-grandfather


If anyone can help determine his family information , that would extremely helpful :)

Here is a marriage of an Ole Borgen in Cerro Gordo county, Iowa. Says his father is Ole Borgen and mother Hilda Thrumo:

Ole Olsen, Borgens wife was Helga Andersdatter.
She was born July 13 1875, see #37.
Her parents were Anders Olsen, Hagan under Rui and Helge Olsdatter.

Ole Olsen, Borgen was born at Moen under Rinde Aug 11 1877, see #64.
His parents were Ole Olsen, Moen under Rinde and Ingeborg Halvorsdatter.

Ole Olsen, Moen and Ingeborg Halvorsdatter were married July 17 1877, see #22
Ole Olsen was born 1857 in Heddal and his father was Ole Hansen.
Ingeborg Halvorsdatter was born 1845 in Siljord and her father was Halvor Tollefsen.

Ingeborg Halvorsdatter was born out of wedlock March 26 1845, see #62.
Her mother was Kirsti Olsdatter, Bitustøl and her father was Halvor Tollefsen, Landsværk.

Ole Olsen was born out of wedlock July 2 1857, see #72.
His moher was Helga Knudsdatter at Holden and his father was married man Ole Hansen from Sijord.

Helga Andersdatters parents, Anders Olsen, Kasin under Sem and Helge Olsdatter, Dalen under Hvalen were married Oct 29 1857, see #15.
Anders was 23 years and 8 months old, his father was Ole Svendsen, Kasin.
Helge was 22 years old and her father was Ole Hansen, Dalen.

The family on Hillestadhengslet 1900, Hilda had 8 siblings (Anna Eline b. 1901) link

The farm was sold to the oldest son Harald, heir to the farm. He moved to Notodden in Hitterdal 1909 where he started a soda factory. Hillestadhengslet was sold same year to Torstein J. Verket.
The other 6 of Hildas siblings stayed in Sandsvær, Ragna 1889 died 1905.

Silver Miner hans Jacob Christensen was born on farm Flogland Feb. 6 baptized in Hedenstad church March 2. 1856, see #22 Parents; Christen Henriksen Flogeland or Hillestadeie, shoemaker, leather-maker and "Træskemand" and doing Threshing and wife Ingeborg Syrene Pettersdatter

Hans Jacob, his brother Kristian, father Kristen Henriksen, shoemaker and leaseholder on Hillestad-Kleven, his wife Sørine (Syrine) 1865
Reg. Hillestad-Kleven. Kristen Henriksen bought farm Kleven ca 1828.
Kleven was abandoned 1938,Kristen Henriksen was house-owner and leaseholder on Kleven 1875.
Kristen Henriksen died 1885
Ingeborg Syrine Pettersdatter died 1902, she lived on farm Haugen with a dau. Maren married to Timand Halvorsen. Syrines occ. in 1900 was wool spinning and Flatbread baking.

Haugen was a sub farm under Østre Dal, correct name is Dals-haugen

Grethe Kirstine Hansdatter was born on farm Nordre Tostad Sept. 23, bapt. in Hedenstad church Oct. 18. 1863, see #111
Parents; Hans Andersen Såtvedt/Tofstad d. 1873 and Inger Gurine Nilsdatter d. 1907.
Hans inherited the rest of Nordre (Northern) Tofstad from his father and from his uncle Ole Andersen he takes over Mellom (Central) Tofstad. He was now ower of three Tofstad farms, the origin of Nordre (Northern) Tofstad which earlier had been split up in three farms.

Grethe Kirstine had following siblings;
- Anton Nicolai 1854
- Nils 1855, em. to USA 1872, dest Milwaukee, em as Nils Hansen age 17, ticket was prepaid.
- Eline Marie 1857
- Gustav 1859
- Sigvard Olaus 1860, em.1886 to USA as Sigvard Tofstad, dest Ruschsford
- Your Grethe Kirstine
- Anne Sofie 1865, em with Sigvard in 1886 as Anne Tofstad
- Anders 1868, em to USA after 1900 as Anders Tofstad
- Hilda Jørgine 1873, em to USA

The family and two servants on Øvre (Upper) Tofstad 1865
The farm could feed two horses, 5 big cattle and 5 cheeps and could sow 3/8 barrel of wheat, 1/4 barrel of rye, 3/4 barrel of barley, 8 barrels of oats and 10 barrels og potatoes. This family did not starve.
