Einar, thank you again for all this information. I looked at the parish registry pages you linked to and I could never have understood what was written there. Also, I answered my own question I asked in an earlier post and saw on the left hand side of the screen that you are indeed in Norway. Lucky you! |

Thank you soooo much for looking all this up. I could not have found this w/o your help. You have been very accommodating to a non-Norwegian speaking person from the Norwegian diaspora. |

I am quite excited to actually be able to recognize Marita's name in her baptism record and Lars' and Magnhild's names in their marriage record. Thank you for continuing this expert investigation. |

This handwriting was even clearer as far as names go. I am assuming Brekke and Ytterli were farms in the Aurland area. This is so thrilling. My son traveled to Norway about 10 years ago and took the Flam railroad to the Aurland area and took a picture of a train stop sign that said "Berekvam". I was pretty certain that my maiden name, Berkvam, was a variant of Berekvam (and I've now learned so is Berquam) as my father said his great grandparents on both sides of the family had come from Norway, the other side of the family is, of course, Fadnes/Fadness. Thanks again for all your work. |
