I wonder, did your Jensine travel back to Norway for a visit. This record for an arrival into Boston seems to fit her fairly well. Birthplace of Swelwik, NOrway is probably Svelvik, Norway. The place under "Last Permanent Rsidence" is a little hard to read but looks to me like Petersham?, Mass.

She might have left Boston early May of 1911, travelling through the U.K. on her way to Norway.

LOL

Yes, she went back to Norway in 1911 to see family, but returned to Petersham in Massachusetts. She lived there until she died in 1953 at the age of 96, about a month before her grand daughter, my mother, married my father in North Carolina.

I'm so excited to make these connections and re-discover our family's Norwegian heritage! Thank you to everyone for your help. It means so very much to us!

So here Jensine is in FAG:

Did any of the children travel with her in 1911?

And where is Fredrik buried?

My gosh, do you realize what you have done? You've helped me to finally make a connection to my living relatives, not just my deceased ancestors! I had seen a photo of that grave stone before, but never noticed until yesterday that the last two names only have birth dates, not death dates. It took your post to prompt me to take a closer look. I have finally connected the dots from the deceased to the living, and here is what I've learned:

My great grandmother Jensine and her husband Fredrik Fredriksen, not only had a son named Norman (my grandfather who died in 1933), but a number of other children, including a daughter Charlotte (whose name is on the grave stone). She married a man named George Marsh and had a son named Earle. Earle Marsh married a woman named Olive had a son named Fredrik (named after my great grandfather, so this makes him my second cousin). He lives just over three hours away from me, and as shown on the tombstone, he has a son named James. I’m looking forward to reaching out to them both, and connecting the Fredriksen lines of our families!

This has been the other half of my quest: not just to know my ancestry, but to know my living, extended family!

To answer the question as to where Fredrik Fredriksen is buried, I have it written in some of my handwritten notes that he is buried back in Norway, but I will try to confirm that with a verifiable source.

I have such gratitude for all the support and information that has been shared with me, and such respect for the research skills of the members here.
