The video for the mine did work, thank you, that was really incredible to see, tough working conditions indeed! Kongsberg looks like a beautiful area.

You're welcome. I am not related to this family.

You'll find Brenne farms and Hassel in this map.
Write "Krekling stasjon Fiskum" (It's a closed railway station) zoom out and go south on road 71 (Two Hassel farms appears) continue and enter road 286 a few hundred yds.and on the west side of the road Brenne turns up and "Brenne-veien" Brenne road
Not sure which farm is correct, names are changed and some farm were abandoned but Brenne still exist as farm-name.

When Martha Margrete em. I wonder if some of the children stayed in Norway? I will try to find out tomorrow.

Good luck with the map.

I think if you click on the "Reply to Topic" link above the Quick Reply box, that will open up a bigger screen with more posting details. From there you can click the button that looks like a photo or an image and it will say "Insert Image".

Thank you, I was able to find "Brenne-veien" road from Skollenborg on the map and the actual street sign in Google Earth, so fun!

I have traced Marthe in the US and it seems all (that I found) of her living children ended up in the US and all in the Spokane/Rockford, Washington state area after a few years in Wisconsin.

Thank you again for this information! It is invaluable to me and my family.

I have tried the button you mention, but it only writes:

I have sent you an e-mail from your site - hopefully you receive it.

Thank you for all this information! I never imagined I would find so much. It is so neat to see my Great aunt Han's immigration parish record (Hanna Bredine), such a long trip for a 1 year old baby. There are so many questions I wish I had thought to ask her before she passed away.

I think the Christian Jacobsen who immigrated with Hans and Jacob Herbrandsen in 1871 was their cousin via their mother (Marthe Margret and Inger Marie).

The newspaper article is a great find and knowing they lived in Arkdale confirms that they were in Wisconsin for some time. I'm learning that there was a large Norwegian settlement near Strongs Prairie in Wisconsin which is very near Arkdale.

Thank you again!

Herbrand Gislesen Ørstein, the family-tree is probably from the "Bygdebook" for Flesberg, 7 volumes, link

He bought farm Evju from Daniel von Hellenbach in 1682 for 470 RiksDaler

Halstein Torgiersen was from one of the two Lehovd farms in Flesberg.
In the map's window, create a distance between Nedre and Lehovd when searching
