This is my first attempt to search for emigrants and i could really use some help to get me started. I have a Norwegian who left Christiania on the 30. April 1886 with the SS Marsdin. Destination is Hull. He had ticket to Edgerton, Wisconsin. How do i go about to find which ship he used from England to America? Also i would like to have a screenshot or something of the original passenger-list. Is this possible in any way? |

What was the name of the person. I search on Ancestry.com a subscription site but the search needs to be done by the persons name. Ancestry.com does allow one to send by email a copy of the particular page of the ships manifest that contains the name of interest.
There are other non subscription sites for arrival into New York and Canada.
Here is a link to the Family Search site for Canadian passengers

Without knowing their names, I assume they arrived Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the ship Lord Clive on May 17th, 1886. |

His name was Martin Olsen and he was born 21. June 1864. He left Christiania 2. october 1886 on SS Marsdin, and had ticket for Edgerton, Wisconsin. That is all i know. |

Are you sure about the October date. I only find one Martin Olsen leaving for Edgerton, Wisconsin in 1886 and he is leaving in April on the Marstin.

I think Jan Peter has your man. Here are the records from Ancestry.com.
Martin Olsen in the Pennsylvania, Passenger and Crew Lists, 1800-1962 Name: Martin Olsen Gender: Male Arrival Age: 20 Birth Date: abt 1866 Birth Place: Sweden Last Residence: Sweden Port of Departure: Liverpool, England Arrival Date: 17 May 1886 Port of Arrival: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Ship: Lord Clive
Another passenger leaving at about the same time as Martin Olsen and also going to Edgerton is named Nils Mure and he is also on this same ship.
Nils Mure in the Pennsylvania, Passenger and Crew Lists, 1800-1962 Name: Nils Mure Gender: Male Arrival Age: 18 Birth Date: abt 1868 Birth Place: Sweden Last Residence: Sweden Port of Departure: Liverpool, England Arrival Date: 17 May 1886 Port of Arrival: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Ship: Lord Clive
It seems that all of the Scandinavian passengers were for this voyage given to Sweden. |

Sorry, my error. He left Christiania on 30. april 1886. And he left together with Nils Mure (actually Myhre). So this is 100% correct. You all are incredible. Thanks a lot. |
