Hello, I am trying to find information on Ole Kittleson Utabjaa. I know he was born on July 19th 1856 in Telemark. He was married to Guro Rykkeli. I think they came to america in 1894. They settled in Minnesota. Thanks so much for your time.

The family in the 190o US Census

Here is an Olaf Kittelsen born abt 1857 on Utabjaa øvre farm in the 1865 Norwegian Census.

This is likely the baptism record for your Ole , Born on July 19 and baptism date is Aug 17, 1856.

Parents are Kittil Jensen and Sigrid Havorsdatter

Kittil Jensen and Sigri Halvorsdatter were married in Vinje parish on Oct 30, 1848. Parents are Jens Gregarsen and Halvor Wetlesen (Vetlessen)

Kittil Jensen was born Jan 24, 1823, Parents are likely Jens Gregarsen and Ingeborg Kittelsdatter.

Jens was born about 1788. This is likely him about age 13 in the 1801 census. Father is Greger Kittilsen and mother is Taarand Jensdatter farm is Jorshaug.

Greger Kittilsen married Taaran Jensdatter on Nov 2, 1772 in Mo parish. He was from Vinje parish and she was from Mo parish. First record left page.

This section covers the ancestors of Sigri Halvorsdatter who married Kittil Jensen on Oct 30, 1848 in Vinje, Telemark.

Sigri was born on Jan 1, 1827
Parents of Sigri are Halvor Vetlessen and Sigri Evindsdatter.

Halvor Wetlesen was baptized Sept 2, 1792. Father is Wetle Kjøstolfsen Edland mother is Anne Halvorsdatter , See third record from the bottom of right hand page.

Wetle Kiostofsen (spelling varies from record to record) married Anne Halvorsdatter on July 9, 1783

Fifth record in 1783.

He and his family are found in the 1801 Census at Edland øvre

Probably the baptism of Wetle Kiostophsen date is Nov 14, 1745,

Near the bottom left page, father is Kiostoph Edland

Farm Utabjaa, Utabjå.

Jens Gregarsen 1767-1872 farm Nergaarden (The lower farm) and Jordshaug was married to Ingeborg Kittelsdatter Jordshaug d before 1835.
Jens Gregarsen on Jorhaug, two brothers and two sisters, Kiødvor and Taaraand and parents Greger Kittelsen and Taaraand Jensdatter 1801
A son Kittel Jensen Utabjaa was born og farm Jordshaug Jan 24. 1823 #6
Jens Gregarsen was a widower when he came to Utabjaa and married 1836 Tone Sveinungsdatter ca 1808-1878 from Sauherad

They got 3 children; Sveinung 1836, moved to farm Sandviken (Sand bay), Ingebjørg 1839-1881, married Aanund Kittelsen from farm Jordshaug, Anne 1843-77, married 1866 Olav Tarjeisen farm S. Haugo.
Kittel Jensen 1823-1915 takes over Utabjaa in 1859 for 1050 Spesi-Daler and married in Grungedal sub parish in Vinje Oct. 30. 1848, Telemark Sigrid Halvorsdatter 1823-1925.

Children; Ingebjørg 1849-1915, died unmarried in Utabjaa, Halvor 1851-1939, Utabjaa, Jens Utabjaa 1854 and Ole Kittelsen Utabjaa 1855, to Albert Lea ca 1894 with wife Guro Aurykkeli/Rykkeli, to Fredborn Minnesota.

Farm Utabjaa is located to Mo

- Eivind 1859-1929. em 1881, black smith in USA. Returned to Norway and died on Utabjaa
- Aslak 1862, em 1881 to Stoughton
- Gregar 1864-1954, moved to Morgedal
- Sigrid 1867-1871
- Anne 1871, married Ole Knudsen N (Northern) Utabjaa
- Ingebjørg (Twin) 1871-1871.

For the ancestors of Sigri Evindsdatter who was married to Halvor Vetlessen. Sigri and her parents Even (Elvin) Olsen and Durdej Kittelsdattter can be found in the 1801 Census on Jugaarden.

Sigri was baptized on May 26, 1799. Father is listed as Even Gugaarden.

Is the Utabjaa farm still there? I am gathering this information for my friend. She is visiting Norway in June. Could you send me the information on the Rykkeli family? I don't know how to post pictures either. Would you be willing to send them to me through email. Thanks again

I am not sure if the farm still exist.
Halvor Thorsen farm Høymyr,1838-1916, bought Rykkeli (Aur-Rykkeli) on auction 1871 for 344 SpesieDaler (One Daler was later valued to 4 Kroner) 1870 he married Kari Eivindsdatter Skaalen 1846-1928, a sub farm under farm Haugehåtveit.
Halvor Thorsen's occ. was Log-driver and carpenter.
probate after Halvor was held 1916, the value of he farm was 4400 Kroner, including Livestock and House hold goods the value was 8907 Kroner. The widow inherited half og the value. Probate after her in 1928 was 2300 Kroner to share.

- Margit 1870-1884
- Guro 1873, married Ole Kittelsen Ø (Upper) Utabjaa
- Jorunn 1875-1914, married 1901 Aslak Olsen farm Håtveit
- Birgit 1877, married 1906 Ole A. farm Nygaard/Gravhaug
- Anne 1881-1938. married 1906 Ole Olsen farm Ljøstad
- Eivind 18884, to Ryder N. Dakota
- Thor 1886, Rykkeli
- Ole 1890

I have a photo of the whole family gathered and som more info.

Thor 1886-ca 1924 takes over Rykkeli 1916 for 4400 Kroner. 1915 he married Johanne Fredrikke Emilsdatter b. 1890 from farm Ø (Eastern) Ringestoga.
Children; None of the children are batized in Mo.
- Klara Oline 1917-1917
- Kari 1918, married Aani Olsen farm Søgaard Håtveit
- Halvor 1920
- Emil 1922

Teacher Ole Halvorsen Rykkeli b 1890, see above, married 1916 Kristine Ivarsdatter Apeland. They moved 1921 to Brunlanes in Vestfold County. Halvor was a teacher in Sky School in Larvik town and municipality 1929
Children;
- Anne 1918-1919
- Halvor 1919
