I have been trying to obtain information for this individual, who is my Great Grandfather for more years than I thought would occur. There are a lot of Trogstads in South Dakota, some whom I've been in contact with and they are the descendents of the brother in the subject. I do not know if they have been successful in discovery anything that they could about these to men.

Two brothers are said to have come from Nannestad, Norway in 1865.

Christian Haagenson Trogstad was born August 24, 1847 and his death occurred in 1918 in America I believe. He was married to Mina Luella Mickelson, born June 2, 1860. Her death occurred 1898 also occurring in America, I believe.

I have a count of nine children, my grandfather one of them. I believe they were all born in America, but the first (I think the first) is born in 1877. The name is Clara Josephine Trogstad.

I am looking for the connection of port in the United States and Norway, and anything else possible.

Here is a Christian Haagensen Trøgstad of Nannestad age 22 leaving Oslo on May 29,1868.

Link

His arrival was a little harder to find. But I looked for a M Rogler who was listed next to him on the emigration list. Both of them were found arriving in New York June 15, 1868 on the City of Antwerp.

Here is the arrival of Christian Trogstad. The original ship manifest is a little hard to read so the replacement of a T with an F is understandable.. Also you can ignore the nationality of Swedish as everyone on the page is listed as Swedish.

C Frogstad
in the New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
Name: C Frogstad
Arrival Date: 15 Jun 1868
Birth Date: abt 1846
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/ Nationality: Swedish
Place of Origin: Sweden
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Destination: United States of America
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: City of Antwerp

Just a small correction.
The baptismal record is #102 not #106.

This information is very helpful. Definitely a missing link for my father's great-grandfather. I forwarded this to my father for review.
Thank you for your help. I am sure I will have need of more information having just received feedback in an email last evening from a cousin regarding my father's grandfather from Sweden.

I have another request.

The name Mina Luella Mickelson is the name I was given for this individual who was married to Christian Haagensen Trogstad.

In searching, I've found not one thing for her.

I would also like to discover possible association of a man named Ed Larsen, who is said to be from Norway, and my dad would always say, no that's not right, give me a minute. Then I recently found there is a Norway Michigan. Ed Larsen in our family was married to Alma Ayars, which is England I believe. So I don't know if you can help with those two. I just thought I would ask.

By the way. You are a most helpful group of people. Very organized and quick in response. I really am grateful for the information.

The free databases of censuses/birth records/etc. at FamilySearch.org indicate that Mina was born in Minnesota.

For example her marriage record is recorded as 22 Mar 1877 when she was just 16 yrs old.
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X257-45W

If you look at the original handwriting in the record as offered you can understand why the extraction to index is so 'misspelled'.

So if you continue to dig into the early records of Freeborn Co., Minnesota you can find what well may be Mina with her parents and siblings 6-7 yrs before she married...
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MDHS-69P

If you look for death records and/or cemetery records in that area you may learn more about her family.

Jodi - Try using FamilySearch.org to do simple searches for Ed Larson in the same area. Perhaps you can gather more information about him.
