In 1947, that must be shortly after his wife Gudlaug died, Andrew and his daughter Agnes visited Norway. They travelled back from Gøteborg to New York with M/S Gripsholm, and arrived NY 30 June 1947.

It is also said here that Agnes was born 21 June 1913 in Kenmare, North Dakota. The censuses 1920 and 1930 also give North Dakota the birth place for Agnes. According the other sources mentioned the family lived in Canada from 1910 till later than 1916. Maybe they had some family in North Dakota, or lived there too for a while?

A sad end of the life of Andrew Julstad:

Tacoma Daily Ledger, Monday, March 17, 1952:

An elderly Winlock man, ill and despondent, took his own life Saturday in a Puyallup hospital, Larry Amundsen, deputy coroner, announced.
Andrew Julstad, 69, a native of Norway, hanged himself to a bedpost some time during the night. His body was discovered at 7:15 a.m. He left no note.
The only known relative is a daughter, Mrs. Agnes Flesher, of Winlock.
