Can any one direct me to where I can find lists of seaman who died at sea on ships under the Norwegian flag. In particular I am interested in the SV Mai (formerly SV Dechmont). The Mai went missing at the end of 1912, never to be seen again. Where can I find a list of the 20 or so crew members who were aboard at the time? Thank you.

Here is more information about the ship and some crew:
https://www.sjohistorie.no/en/skip/18507/monstringer

This is Google translates version of the text at the bottom:
n a book published in Mandal with author Christian Dyrstad entitled "Cover Boy to Skipper", see pages 177 and 178 under the chapter "With Chilesaltpeter to France."

Then we were finished from Antofagasta and came to sea. But it was a long journey with very quiet. Even around Kapp Horn it was lying and quiet, and all the røyler stood practically from we went out from Antofagasta until we reached the height of the Azores. Around Cape Horn and beyond the Falkland Islands, we met several large icebergs, but fortunately it was clear and visibly weathered, so we escaped unharmed from them.

As mentioned, it was a very long journey, when quiet and calm wind followed us around the globe. A Tvedestransship that went to sea two days before us, however, had fresh winds all over South America, and around Cape Horn had terrible storms, so the ship was broken down. But it came to Europe after a very quick journey. The launcher "Mai" of Lillesand went to sea a week before us. But it never came out nor was it asked for the ship later.

We can relate to the last one where it has been devoted to "Mai's" departure from Chile. Where the ship was going to sail it is not informed.

The ship was 23 years old."

Thank you for that. Very interesting. The crew list covers the main 4/5 seaman. Is there any where I can find the rest? And is there somewhere i can look at seamen that died at sea in ships under the Norwegian flag. Thank you again.

Only ship master Hans Olsen from Høyvaag, Mate G. J. Tønnesen from Kristiansand, Sail-maker N. Cher. Jacobsen from Arendal and Deck-boy Søren Eliassen from Høyvaag were Norwegians, the rest of the crew were Danes and Swedes .

Mai was a beautiful ship.
Here is all the info of Full-rigged ship Mai

Probably cause of shipwreck; Stormy weather, Collision or sailed on an unknown ground. Case shelved.

Mai looks like Christian Radich

The list of 20 men captain and crew might be all there were on the Mai.
You can tell the approximate origins of each it's listed behind each name. Bahuslan is in Sweden, etc.

Since you don't use the letters Æ.Ø.Å

- Kjøbenhavn is Copenhagen
- Båhuslen is Bohuslen
- Malmø is Malmø
- Helsingør is Helsingør
- Helsinborg is Helsingborg
- Ystad is Ystad
