I know that my grandfather, John Oan Thorson Lappegard Haugen arrived here on the Baltic on 4/21/1905 from Liverpool. I still have not found any information about his wife, my grandmother Christina Marie Einersdatter Pederson Peterson born 6/28/1886 in Stavanger, Norway and died 11/15/1961 in Ferndale, Wa. Her parents were Einer Pederson 1842-? and Berta Elizabeth olsdatter Sunde 1849-1910 and I have only 1908 as a suggestion for her arrivial here in America. There were 5 of her family who came to America and 3 that stayed in Norway.

Would love to find out how she got here and also what year her father passed away. Are there places that I can check it out?

The 1900 Norwegian census shows the family living in Sola/Haaland, Rogaland rather than Stavanger.
http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ftliste_e.aspx?ft=1900&knr=1124&kenr=001&bnr=0024&lnr=00

The emigration register for Stavanger 1903-1928 shows what is probably one of the siblings leaving from the port of Stavanger in 1906 and lists his prior residence location as Haaland and lists his intended destination as Iowa.
http://gda.arkivverket.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=1&filnamn=Stav1903&gardpostnr=8140&sokefelt=skjul

The same emigration database shows a Kristine Petersen leaving from Stavanger in 1908 and heading also to Iowa. The listed birthyear could well be an error in the original record or could have happened as the original record was transcribed into electronic form.
http://gda.arkivverket.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=1&filnamn=Stav1903&gardpostnr=11801&sokefelt=skjul

Both databases are free for your own use -

And the very useful website for many translated words -

You don't share some information which would probably be very helpful.
Were John and Christina married in Norway or in the US?
Did Christina's father emigrate to the US and die here or die in Norway?
What are your sources for the dates and locations you have about the Einar Pedersen family?

Belmond, Wright County, Iowa? Wow - I've been there any number of times and also remember riding through shortly after the 1966 tornado devastated the town. Small world.

Einar is still alive in 1910 but is a widower -
http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ftliste_e.aspx?ft=1910&knr=1124&kenr=008&bnr=0011&lnr=00

So you could go through the church death records AFTER 1910 to look for detail of his death.

Thank you again for the help! John and Christina were married 6/24/1910 in Plaza, ND and lived in Makoti, ND till they moved to Ferndale, WA in the 1950's - she had sisters and brothers in Belmond, Iowa and I still have cousins around there. Her mother and father never came over and they died in Norway. Is there anything else I should look for? The only information I have is from my Mom. She always wondered when her mother came over. I thank you for giving me the information.

Thank you too! I had all of her family listed and their dates of birth and death. Christina's Birth is 6/28/1886 and the area in Norway mentioned is Sunde, Madla, Rogaland, Stavanger. We did visit a lot of her relatives in Stavanger back in 1990's. I wish I had asked more questions then - my Mom was with me and it was her trip to see her cousins!

I remember that tornado too. My aunt and uncle moved into Belmond from the farm after it happened. My cousin still lives there on the farm.

This is so interesting as I can see the ship she came on. You people are the greatest and I so appreciate your help. When I get to Christina's grandparents I will have a little puzzle to solve then but I am not ready yet. Thank you !

The grandparents shouldn't be too hard for you. The parents are listed in that 1900 census with birthplaces and at least approximate years of birth. The area's parish records of births are free and online through the Digitalarkivet website. You just go to the correct time period in the books available and page through until you see the child's birth name and patronymic.

The maternal grandparents may even be included in the household I gave you earlier for the 1900 census.
