On the right hand page for December 8 is a baptism record for Helge daughter of Svennung Wrem.

I would like someone to translate for me to make sure my understanding of what the section says is correct.

Especially interested in what is the word that looks like glo and is underlined means.

I guess I don't see the entry as a single entry the way you do. In front of Svennung Wrem is the abbreviation "Introd." which I think means that Svennung's wife is being reintroduced to the congregation after giving birth. The baptism of the child is on the previous page in the 20th listing, Svennung Wrems son Svennung and Svennung Wrem himself is one of the godparents.

But I'll leave it to the better versed in Norwegian reading skills.....

The baptism of Svennung Wrems son was Oct 20, he was born Oct 16, and the mother of Svennung Svennungsen was introduced to the congregation Dec 8.

I don't think it reads "glo", but I can't tell what it says or what it's short for.
Possibly ægte (?), short for ægtefelle.
Regardless of what it says, it means spouse or wife, because it reads:
Introd: Svennung Wrems ... Aslaug.
Aslaug was his first wife.

No Kåre, this is part of the thread for "Svein Everson Lie". I am trying to trace the parents of the Helge Svennugsdatter born abt 1782 found in the 1801 Census living at Farberget, Midgaarden Nordre in the household of her future husband Even Andresen.

Helge

I posted a new thread to make sure I would get you guys to look at it. Which you did and now I need to digest what you are telling me.

At first I thought perhaps she was the daughter of an Svennung Aslaksen but the Bybdebok on Bø reveals that Svennung Aslaksen did have daughter Helge but she was born in 1762, married and had several children making it highly unlikely that the Helge of 1782 is the daughter of Svennung Aslaksen.

So then I went looking for a Helge born about 1782 and came across the one we are now discussing.

Then there is a second record in that section that refers to Helge? Now that I know a little more, it looks to me as if it is "dobt Ouger? last name ? datter Helge fodt 5th Dec"

So not a child of Svennung

Ok Anton, just curious.
Svennung Wrem, his forefathers were famous and wealthy.

Have you thoroughly examined the Svennungsons and datters in the Halvor Nielsen family above? The wife is in her 2nd marriage to Halvor and had a bunch of kids. Perhaps Helge was put to work for the neighbors Even and Johanne, getting some income but close enough for her mother to watch her?

Yes that is a good suggestion. I have tried to follow that line. Here is a Tree with the first husband of Asberg Grave Jorgensdatter. He is Svenung Sonsteboe Skoe Eriksen and according to the Tree they had Halvor and Kari, missing two of the three in the 1801 Census. No Helge in the list but Kari is easily findable.

#68

And Halvor on 31 March of 1781, left page.

May 11, 1781, last entry right page. Svennung Lay? or Lang?

Link

Sept 21, 1782 right hand page, Name is Svennung Lay?or Lang ?. Probably same parent as the one directly above.

My guess on the farm name is Lofthuus.

My guess for the gol abbreviation is that it is actually qde short for qvinde.

Yes, I bet that is it. I wonder if the letters are not g o l but q v d which would match the up and down of the three letters.

That's useful, it is the first farm name I have seen attached to her. I can pass that on to UND and see if that farm name or a similar one pops up in the Bygdebok. In the 1801 Census the name appears to be Bøe: Tordstved.
