Peder -- Thank you for the clarification. All that info from My Heritage and Family Search matches what I have. I was hopeful you had found some bit of documentation. All of that info comes from my great-grandmother.
ToreL -- Thank you! So great to see the family all together in 1875, but now I have to re-think my immigration theory! And now I know where that 'Oveda' came from. That is terrific. |

The census ToreL linked to lists the lodger's (Anthon Evensen) occupation as Graastensmurer. And son Ludvig is a Hvoslefs korkefb. Google translate doesn't know what to do with either of those. What does those translate to? |

And maybe the 1875 immigration dates work if the census was before July? |

I'm getting more clarity. I read here that the census was taken in December 1875. But I'm still okay with the immigration dates because it is daughters Josephine and Agnete who perhaps left in 1875. https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Norway_Census
I wish I could edit my comments. I'm a little all over the place today. ;)
Thanks again to everyone: ToreL, peder, Jkmarler, Kεarto and lyndal40. You are amazing!! |

Graastensmurer = granite mason Hvoslefs korkfabr. = Hvoslef's cork factory
The person probably worked at the cork factory, and Hvoslef was the name of the owner of the factory. |

Well Mel if Jens Olsen was living in Oslo in 1875 as the Census record posted by Tore shows, then he cannot be the Jens Olsen who arrived in 1874 that I have posted on page one. I will strike that info. I do think that Agnette and Josephine are probably correct. |

lyndal40 -- I know! I go round and round with Jens Olsen's immigration. I'm going to go to the FHL and see what else I can find. And I agree about Agnette and Josephine -- I think those are the correct dates for them. Thanks for you great input.
And thanks for the translation, Tore!
