Looing to confirm where my Great-Grandfather, Peter (Peder) Olaf Andersen (Vallem, Valum, Valem, Anderson) was born in Odal, Nallena, Norway on 2 Jan 1845 or 21 Jan 1844 or was he born in Hjelmeland, Ardal, Rogaland on either of those dates. I believe he was Christened, in Hjelmeland, Ardal, Rogaland and Married Brith (Britta, Brita) Rasmusdatter Hia Naesse on 17 April 1864 per Rogaland County, Ardal in Hjelmeland, Parish register (official nr. A12 (1862-1886, Marriage records 1864, page 164. Any help to confirm any of the above would be greatly appreciated. Rollin71

There is a Anders Osmundsen married to a Helje Pedersdatter living on Næset in the 1865 Norwegian Census that could be the parents of Peder

1865

And there is a Rasmus Larsen and his wife Ingebor Pedersdatter living on Hia in the 1865 Census.

1865

Rasmus Larsen and Ingeborg (Ingebor) Pedersdatter (Pedersdtr), I have him born in 1820 and her in 1820. They were the parents of Brethe, Britha Andersen (Rasmusdatter), Peder's wife.

The rebuilt database "Emigranter fra Stavanger 1825-1970" (a fire destroyed most of Stavanger's early records of emigrants leaving from that port) has a page which lists a number of the children of Anders Osmundsen and Helga Pedersdatter of Årdal. The database does not include any information about what year(s) they emigrated and does not list what it used as a source to rebuild that information.
Malena Andersdtr Osmundsen (b. 1848)
Olina Andersdtr Osmundsen (b, 1866)
Ola Andersson Osmundsen (b. 1850)
Per Andersson Osmundsen (b. 1844) and his wife Brita Nessa Ramusdtr Osmundsen

There could be more - but those are what I quickly encountered.

This family has been extensively researched on this site back in 2013.

Norway Heritage 2013

From the 2013 Thread, info from jwiborg

"Anders Osmundsen, born 04 Feb 1824
Parents: Bachelor Osmund Osmundsen Mæle & Malene Samsonsdtr. Ytrevoll.
Anders Osmundsen, married 21 Jun 1843 with Helga Pedersdtr. Vallemsbakkane. Anders is born on Ytrevold, 19 1/2 y.o. In 1865 living on Neset (Vallemsneset).
This Anders Osmundsen married Helga Pedersdtr., and the family shall (between 1865 and 1875?) have emigrated to America."

You need to use a little care with some of the information from 2013. I see that Jane C posted some information also from a tree with the incorrect birth date for Peder and did not point out that the birth date is likely incorrect.

Birth years are not likely. Here is the marriage record from Ancestry.com. If they married in 1833 they likely were born before 1820. More likely are the birth years from the 1865 Census of Rasmus Larsen about 1808 and Ingeborg Pedersdatter about 1811.

Rasmus Larsen
in the Norway, Select Marriages, 1660-1926
Name: Rasmus Larsen
Gender: Male
Marriage Date: 7 jul 1833
Marriage Place: Aardal,Rogaland,Norway
Spouse: Ingeborg Pedersdr
FHL Film Number: 126128

Here is a candidate for you, baptism date is March 20, 1808. Name is Rasmus. Father is Lars Rasmusen and mother is Britha Osmundsdater. Farm is Aase.

#24

Based on the baptism record above, I would think that this is Lars Rasmussen and wife Britha Osmudsdatter in the 1801 Census on the Aase farm.

1801

Perhaps the baptism record for Ingeborg Pedersdatter. Baptism is June 27, 1809.Parents are Peder Sørensen and Britha Torgiersdatter farm is Svinelien.

Original record

#52

Likely the father and mother in the 1801 Census. Farm is Willingsdahl

1801

In the marriage record for Lars Rasmussen Aase and Brita Osmudsdatter, from June 10, 1800 she has the farm name Riveland. There is a Osmud Olsen living at Riveland in the 1801 Census. HIs wife is Martha Ormsdatter.

1801

Brita was baptized on June 26, 1776. Farm is Riveland.

Likely the marriage of Osmund Olsen and Martha Ormsdatter in 1772.

Name: Osmund Olsen
Gender: Male
Marriage Date: 24 jun 1772
Marriage Place: Hjelmeland, Rogaland, Norway

Farm name in the original record looks like Rake

You may be interested in a Family Tree on the Family Search Website that seems to fit well with this family. As with all online family trees the tree needs to also be investigated by you for authenticity. Although this tree does seem to give sources. For example for Rasmus Larsen it states that he is mentioned as Rasmus Larson Åse on page 412, Årdal bygdebok.

Family Search

There is also a Tree on Geni.com for this family starting with Brita Osmundsdatter wife of Lars Rasmussen.

Geni.com

Probably worth checking the Årdal Bygdebok for this family.

I see that the Geni.com indicates that the mother of Osmund is still alive for the 1801 Census and living at Riveland as his her son Osmund Olsen and his wife Martha Ormsdatterl

1801

None of the above seem to give the exact burial place, only that she died in Bergen
