Hello! Back again looking for a new couple this time. I have already viewed their Geni tree (Patricia Maxwell’s) and I have already found their marriage in Børsa, 7 Aug 1712. Looking to go as far back on them as possible (Joen is my direct male ancestor). Estimated birth dates for them: 1658-1700 in the Stadsbygd-Orkdalsfjord area. Thanks for any help!

Looks like you will need to access this Bygdebok to see if you can find ancestors of either Joen Olsen Ingdalen & Ingebor Larsdatter Geiten. I see that the Library at the University of North Dakota has a copy and you can send an e-mail to Michael Swanson a research librarian and for a small fee he will perform a search for you and send you any relevant scans that he may find.

"Swanson, Michael" <michael.l.swanson@und.edu>

The relevant book is

Geitastrand — Arne G. Brekke Bygdebok Collection
Geitastrand

Fylke
Sør-Trøndelag

Author Title Year Call Number Type Notes
Rød, P.O. Geitastrandboka: gards- og ættehistoria 1979 DL596.G43 R62 Farms

There may be other Bygdbøker that could be useful for your search such as the four volume collection.

Stadsbygd — Arne G. Brekke Bygdebok Collection

and

Lensvikboka, Johan Singstad, (Lensvik Historielag)

There is a Bygdbok for Ingdalen

Tilgang:
Tilgang for norske IP-adresser
Tittel:
Ingdalsboka : om folk og forhold gjennom de siste århundrer
Navn:
Aune, Anders
Ingdalen bygdeboknemnd

It can be found on Nasjonalbiblioteket

However one needs a Norwegian IP address to access it.

Perhaps some kind poster of this site can take a look and see if any useful information is found around.

Bygdeboka for Ingdal (Ingdalsboka, utgitt i 1993 av Anders Aune) side 57-58: Bakken under Øvre Ingdal,

Not really finding any sites or discussion that give the parents of Joen Olsen Ingdalen & Ingebor Larsdatter Geiten, so you may be at a dead end.

However there are other family members that do seem to go back further in time.

Anders Larsen Solem Bækkedal b 1760 and father of your Arnt (Arent) with Else Jensdatter had parents Lars Joensen Overingdal and Marit Andersdatter Øyangen.

Lars seems to dead end at Joen Olsen Ingdalen & Ingebor Larsdatter Geiten but

Marit Andersdatter Øyangen has parents Arnt Andersen Aune b 1700 and wife Siri Knutsdatter Pallum b 1698.

Arnt had father Anders Andersen Aune abt 1657 wife unknown
His father was Anders Solemsaune abt 1632

Siri Knutsdatter Pallum had father Knud Haftorsen Pallum abt 1656 and wife Marrite Jonsdatter Overskaug abt 1659
Knud had father Haftor Olsen Pallum abt 1613 wife unknown
Marite had father Joen Estensen Overskaug abt 1619
Joen Estensen Overskaug had father
Esten Haftorsen Overskaug abt 1570

Thank you for this! Yes I thought I might be at (or very close to) a dead end for those two. I have Marit Andersdatter’s ancestors already in my tree and was wondering how they got tracked back so far but not Joen Olsen’s side. Who knows I guess. I used Oluf Rygh’s website to determine a general background knowledge for the Ingdalen and Geiten names. Very interesting!

Thank you for this very useful information, and sorry it’s been awhile on this thread but I was wondering if I could get some help with finding the death records of Joen and Ingbor, and their son Lars if possible. I’ve done a lot of looking but haven’t come up with anything. Maybe the indexes are filled out for those records?
