quote: So, do you see a "Carl Gristave" born in Norway and shortly died afterwards? Then the story is Albertina had another son later and kept the name Carl for him. Does that all make logical sense?
Yes it does make sense. More so now that we keep digging up information on the family.
As posted earlier this is the first born Carl Gustav. This would be the one who died young and died in Norway.

HI Jackie, I’m caught up on your posts. I had to cut and paste into a separate word document so I would follow along. In summary, we believe Albertine Amundsen and Christian Danielsen had a baby Carl in Norway who soon died in Norway. Then Albertine and Christian soon left to America and had five more children, one named Charles (aka Carl 2nd). Also, we learned Christian has a local Wisconsin brother Christopher married to Kersti Davidson (I see Kirsti Davidsdatter Raa) and they have five children. Plus, earlier, another older brother Ole also moved to Wisconsin. And we found that their father Daniel Tollefsen left also with his wife and kids. It is like the entire family up and left Norway for Wisconsin! So, if was I visiting for a few magical hours in Oslo, I would maybe drive out to Homble farm area or Drogaden for a look around. Or is it a huge city now? Cheers, Randy

No, Albertine and Christian had two children in Norway. Both named Carl Gustav. The first one died young, the second one came with them to Wisconsin and is named Charles in the 1870 Census |

I think if we dig further we will find that brother Niels Danielsen also came to America and in 1870 is living with wife and children in Waupaca.
Niels was born Sep 19, 1827 to Daniel Tolllefsen and Gubjør Olsdatter at the Homble farm in Nannestad.

The 1865 Census for Niels Danielsen gives an address of Øvre Voldgate. I think that the street is spelled #6 Øvre Vollgate, today. If you put Øvre Vollgate,Oslo into Google Maps you will see a fairly short street in the heart of Oslo. It will give you an idea of the neighborhood that Christian and Albertine lived in when they were living in Oslo. You need to consider that the area may have changed a considerably since the 1800's, it is the heart of the city. In 1865 the building contained 8 apartments.
1865
Here is a link to a map fro Google. I am not sure that it will work but you can enter the above address in your self.
Øvre Vollgate

You can see from the map that Øvre Vollgate is about 7 blocks west of Kirkegata walking down Tollbugata.

Neil married a lady 16 years older? Ellen must have had money or strong. I would like to see that picture. |

Albertine's mother is a bit of a mystery. In Elise's and Guttorm's marriage record Elise's father is named Even Sæther. That is not an exceedingly common name.
Here is an Even Johannesen Sæther mentioned as the father of a not long lived child being baptized at Garnison in Oslo in 1827: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000003701687
A twin child named Antonette Emilie in 1821: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000003694953
#3 Antonette Emilie confirmation: SAO, Garnisonsmenigheten Kirkebøker, G/Ga/L0004: Parish register (copy) no. 4, 1828-1840, p. 275 Quick link: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20061009050573
Another child (a twin) in 1821: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000003694913
A child named Vilhelm Emanuel in 1828 (Elise Martine is mentioned in the notes as 11 and vaccinated at the same time as another child named Antonette Emilie): https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000003703627
Another child named Albertine (a twin) in 1832: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000000626813
#43 Albertine Josephine vaccination address is Vaterland: SAO, Garnisonsmenigheten Kirkebøker, F/Fa/L0007: Parish register (official) no. 7, 1828-1881, p. 278 Quick link: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20060227070736
#25 death of Albertine Josephine address is "Vaterland" SAO, Garnisonsmenigheten Kirkebøker, F/Fa/L0007: Parish register (official) no. 7, 1828-1881, p. 48 Quick link: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20060227070591
Another child (a twin) in 1832: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000000626791
A child named Johan Fredrik in 1834: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000000621553

Elise's confirmation # 6 Father here is called Even Evensen Sæther but mother is Karen Enersdatter: SAO, Garnisonsmenigheten Kirkebøker, F/Fa/L0006: Parish register (official) no. 6, 1828-1841, p. 302 Quick link: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20060227070467
Another record Elise's confirmation: # 6 SAO, Garnisonsmenigheten Kirkebøker, G/Ga/L0004: Parish register (copy) no. 4, 1828-1840, p. 264 Quick link: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20061009050562
It also says she was baptized at Var Frelsers.
