Does anyone know a translation for this illness, evidently a serious problem in 16-1700s? |

Sott is an old tern for an serious internal disease.
The old Expression from the Viking-age "to die in Sotteseng", seng means bed, to die in bed of sotte, was less honorable than to die by the sword. |

Because you would not go to Valhalla if you died by the sott, only if you died in battle. So, the vikings would place a sword in the hand, and might also kill, or apply wounds on the body of the dying person in the last minute, to make it look as if they had died in battle, to try tricking the Valkyries to let the dead person go to Valhalla |

Hi
According a swedish list sott simply means illness (of a serious kind - not a common cold etc) Blodsot means diarrhea/dysentery
