Gunild Bottolfsdatter Bottolvshus Tollefson memorial and tombstone
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/68934050/gunild-tollefson
the tombstone says her birth date is 6 June 1798, but her baptism info says she was born cira Mai 1798. born Grøslandseie, Flå, Flå kommune, Hallingdal, Buskerud. Baptism: 17 jun 1798 Flå kirke, Flå, Flå kommune, Hallingdal, Buskerud. . if she was born June 6 1798, she was awful young when baptized and that is unusual isn't it? Can anyone help me find birth info for her This lady is step sister to my gr gr grandfather. thank you so much for any help. if it is more convenient, my email is connierl@longlines.com

There is a baptism 17 June 1798 in Flå church under Nes, Buskerud for Gunild, daughter of Botolf (Botolph) and Ragne Trostem. (#123). Baptism within a few days of the birth was the norm at that time. |

Unfortunately, for a great many years in Nes, Flå, Gol and Hemsedal parish register the only date of record is the baptism because that's the only record kept. So unless someone in the family kept a better record such as in their Bible etc, the carved headstone might be the only record you might find.
There were some regulations that a baby should be baptized within 10 days of birth but experience tells that is seldom adhered to. So it is possible she was actually born on 6 June 1798. |
