In church record - after listing for Nils death, there is a 2 line remark. Does this apply to Nils?
I can't read it; perhaps someone else with a more trained eye can.
The right half of each double page is divided in two; first a column for the cause of death of the person to the left, while the rest of the page is reserved for stillborns. Since the remark goes over the whole width of the page, it is either a particularly detailed description of Nils' cause of death, or a particularly detailed recording of a stillborn. If I were to guess, I would say the latter, since I read the last three words as meget for tidligt, i.e., much too early. |

Thanks for reply, Probably nothing to do with Nils.
Gyri and Ole - first son Nils born 1849. Did he stay in Norway - or emigrate separate from the others? |

Think of poor Gyri, losing 1st husband Nils, then son Nils and 2nd husband Ole in the same year 1866. Then in 1875, decided to take 3 remaining children and emigrate to Minnesota. They did have someone to come to in Norwegian Grove - Gyri's daughter Herborg who emigrated in 1869 (husband Mikkel Axness). Herborg and Mikkel may have emigrated together from Kvam, so don't know if they were married in Norway or Minnesota.

Tusen takk for all the help in completing the picture of this family! ~~ Kay

Here (line #6) is Herborg's baptism. She was born May 22nd 1845, and was the daughter of Gyri with her first husband Nils. |

I wonder if this (#228) might be Mikkel's emigration. Age and parish look right, and Oxnes could be misprint for Axnes. |

And perhaps this (#13) could be Herborg's emigration, although her age would be slightly off. |

Good to know - looks like Mikkel emigrated alone in May 1868. Herborg followed the next year in June 1869, maybe with some cousins or friends. Her mother Gyri and 3 half-siblings came in 1875.

Wondering - who is John Moe - didn't find him as a sibling to Torstein and Julia (Guri)
Could this be him - https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/53493187/john-e-moe

Thank you. - E for Erikson. Now I see on 1900 census - John E and wife Ingeborg came over in 1893.
So this is not our John Moe on the 1880 Norw. Grove census.
So still looking for our John Moe who was age 21 on 1880 Norw. Grove census. |
