I am searching for my greatgrandmother Ingeborg Sofie Halvorsen born 20 April 1840 in Høland, Norway. She went to Erskine, MN,Polck County with "M/S" Thingvalla March 01 1894 arrived Ellis Island March 21 1894.
I can't find her after that date.
She had a son, halfbrother to my grandmother: Ludvig Olsen born Nov 02 1867,he married a Hilda and changed his last name to Gran.
can anybody please help me with som questions about my greatgrandmother. Maybe she married, what did she do for a living, and when and where did she die? Maybe she changed her last name to: Lee or Halvorson.

On the Minnesota Death certificate site there is a HALVORSON, INGBERG who died in Polk county November 22 1925 which is a possibility. Also Ludvig Gran is listed date of death November 23, 1940 in Polk county. So it is a possibility they remained there. http://people.mnhs.org/dci/Search.cfm
You could try writing to the Polk County Historical society the addres is listed at this site http://www.mnhs.org/preserve/mho/chsclo.html
Here is the website for Polk County rootsweb http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnpolk/
You might want to join the Norway-L mailing list and post a query with them. http://members.tdn.com/dagwood/NorwayList.htm
