I am relatively new to genealogy, and I am looking for some help Please.
My grandmother, Marie Lund, b, 16 March 1893 came to America in 1903 accompanied by a cousin, and did not return to Norway until 1961. She had won the trip because of being named Grandmother of the year by the Hamar Fair Association. I know that her father was Anders Mikkelsen Lund, b,10 May 1858 on the Galaas farm, Vang, Hedmark. He lived in Hamar most of his life. I am trying to discover his actual place of birth, his date of death, where he was buried and birth and death dates for his other children: Arthur Lund, Johan Lund, Hartvig Lund, Ella Lund, Thorleif Lund.
I would appreciate any help on how to find this.
Thanks

JON BERGH

Anders Mikkelsen's family in the 1865 Norwegian census -

New to genealogy - you need to know that Norway has excellent old records and most are quite available. You will need to study how to read the old records but that really isn't that difficult for the serious researcher.
There is much available online to start learning.

an older but very useful website - http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~norway/articles.html

It is a little intriguing that, although he grew up at Øvre Gålås, he took the name of Lund when he moved to Hamar. Perhaps some other Norwegian member with a closer connection to Ringsaker may shed some light on this?

There is an online database containing most of the existing Norwegian graves:

https://slektogdata.no/gravminner/finn-en-grav

Enter first and last name at "Formavn" and "Etternavn". As a non-member you will also have to enter fylke (county) etc: Choose Innlandet at "Velg Fylke" and "Hamar" at "Velg Kommune". At the last, "Velg Gravplass", you can experiment but "Hol" will give you the match for Thorleif Lund. Both he and his sister Ella (who married Hanssen) lived to be more than 90. Thorleif married Aslaug Lilleberg, and I see that a search for this name gets a match in a MyHeritage family tree. I am not a paying member there, so I can't see the contents, except that the couple had two children.
