I would like any information about this farm located in Vinje, Telemark during the 1830s-1840s.
A couple families on the farm were: Asmund Knudsen (b 1795) m. 1829 Margit Bjornsdtr (b. 1808) Talles Knudsen (b. 1804) m. 1838 Margit Bjornsdtr (b. 1808)
Yes, Margit married Asmund's brother, Talles, after Asmund passed away in 1836.
Thank you! |

Look for the bygdeboks for the area “Vinje og Rauland”, 4? volumes by Rikard Berge. Or check with the websites that list people willing to do limited lookups in the Norwegian books that they possess. |

Knut/Knud Aasmundsen Tveito/Tveiten was the youngest son of Aasmund and Gunnhild Hylland. The farm Knut later owned was named Sydistugo (The southern) Tveiten/Tveito. Knut married Margit, Knut Bru's daughter (Bru means Bridge). Margit was one year older than Knut. Her father Knut Bru bought Sydistugo Tveiten from Olav Nilsens heirs for a bit more than 2000 Daler. Knuts sister Aslaug lived on the Northern Tveiten farm. Because of that several of the children had the same name on both farms as Margit, Gunnhild, Signe and Sigrid. On Knut's farme there wee two named Margit, the daughter named Little Margit here. That caused trouble and confusing for later genealogists. On Knut's farm; Littte Margit married Aslak Knudsen farm Svalastoga, Gunnhild married Olav Thorsteinsen Aksvik, Signe married his brother Eivind Aksvik, Sigrid married Eivind Olavsen Eivindsstøyl in Berdalsgrendi. There were three boys. Aasmund Knudsen inherited farm Tveiten, Knut settled down on farm Mosokn, later Haukås (Hawk-hill) and Byrte, some of Aasmunds children em to America. The third son Talleiv/Talles on farm Lid. Aasmund married Margit Bjørnsdatter Aarhus. His father Knud Aasmundsen was a skilled man, and he and Margit wanted only the best. Knud cultivated one acre and removed 6000 loads of stone from the fields. Margit and her cousin on farm Aabø-Groven competed to have the nicest house, and build two large houses on each farm. Tveiten got chimney and two iron furnaces. Knut dug a ditch on 180 meter to get rid of some of the water and led it to other parts of the fields. For cultivating and housebuilding the Bratsberg Company gave him a prize on 4 Daler. When Aasmund took over the farm he paid 300 Daler and secured the parents a legal right on free room and food as long as they lived. Aasmunds father Knut lived longer than him. When Aasmund and Margit married Nils Sveinungsen wrote a wedding song for them. When Aasmund died his widow Margit Bjørnsdatter Aarhus married his brother Tollev/Talles. They got children that em. to America. Tveiten under Aasmund became a good and valuable farm. The widow Margit got 50% and the two sons Knut and Bjørn shared the other 50%. When old Knut died, Talles gave deed on Tveiten to Aasmunds oldest son Knut Aasmundsen, but since Knut was under age Talles cultivated the farm. |

Do you have a geo location where this southern farm was/is? I've read that the original house on the Northern farm is still standing? |

This is a link to the location of Tveito Sudigard on Norgeskart. Yoy can switch from aerial photo view to map view, and zoom out to see the location in a greater context. |

The wedding song, 200 years old west-Telemark dialect.
(Latin) If life is good, end is good
