I know my husband's grandfather left Christiania 4/4/1873 on the Hero. Can you tell me about how many days the trip took to Hull? I printed the list tonight of corresponding ships and crossed 2 off because they were earlier than 4/4. Is it possible he could have left Liverpool already on 4/5? Thank you.

In 1875 the S/S Angelo departed Christiania on Friday, July 2nd. at 5 p.m. and arrived Hull Sunday at 6½ p.m. The Angelo called at Christiansand and stayed there for four hours. This was a record-breaking journey over the North Sea. Usually the should expect about 3 days for the North Sea crossing from Christiania. Departure from Christiania were usually every Friday, arrival Sunday night or Monday morning. Usually the Christiania emigrants would depart from Hull on trains on Mondays or Tuesdays. Add a day by train from Hull to Liverpool.
