| Hello ToreL and J K Marler, thought you may be interested in my DNA update having enlarged my tree. My great-grandfather Andrew Hanson 1837-1907 linked to his mother Gunild M Andersd. 1817-1897 (with 9 DNA matches). Her father (my 3rd great-grandfather) Anders Hansen 1783-1865, (to evaluate) so need to check, I seem to remember there was a bit of a mystery regarding Gunild’s father’s name, with something crossed out (Olsen?) and replaced with Hansen. Was interesting to see the links down to me, Carole Hanson (as was) Thank you both. |

| The speculation is that Hansen is the patronymic from his birth father named Hans rather than his step father whose name was Ole. It would be a matter resolved looking for a baptism for an Andreas /Anders born to a Hans __ and a Gunild Andre/Andersdatter. |

I do descend from Gunild Marie Andersdatter, as children from her second marriage namely Gustav Jansen and Stina Olava Jansen have DNA matches with me.
There is the Anders Hansen birth date 24 Mar 1837, baptism date 2 April 1837 Ramnes Vestfold. Son of Gunild Maria Andersdr and Hans Christian Thommesen, so I think that Anders must be the Andrew in Durham, born approx 1837-1840 judging by the various ages he gave on several UK census records. Do you think that’s enough evidence? Can’t see DNA links with Gunild’s husband Hans Christian Thomassen to me though, yet!
Do you think the Fjeldboen farm family, is the same family as the above, as that Anders was born in Ramnes? All gets a bit confusing, but I try to be accurate as you obviously do, because I’ve seen so many glaring errors some people make, to make it fit! |

Yes, I think the sources are clear about that. The baptism was in Ramnes parish, and the domicile is given as "Fieleboen". (Link) As Jackie noted in a previous post, the parishes in Vestfold are squeezed close together, and Våle and Ramnes are right next to each other. I don't recall if I already posted this clipping from Ramnes bygebok about "Fjelebuen". Anders, b. 1837 is mentioned at the bottom of the left page. A few lines above it says that his father married his mother in Våle.
On this map I have marked Ramnes church at the bottom, Våle church at the top, and Fjælebua (modern spelling of the farm name) at the left. Fjælebua and Ramnes church are each about 10 kms from Våle church, while Fjælebua is about 3 kms from Ramnnes church.
