I am looking for information about the ship my great grandmother travelled on from Vang, Valdres. Her name was Sønneve Olsdater Elton. According to Digitalarkivet:Emigrants from Bergen Harbour(record #18237), she (age 20) left April 22, 1885 and travelled with Anders Andersen Hermunstad (her cousin, age 23) to the US on the Inman Line. Others on that ship may have been Ole Andersen Skjerven, Mina Olsdatter Skjerven, and Marie Olsdsdatter Skjerven. Does anyone know the name of the ship and where it landed?

She probably crossed the Atlantic on the S/S City of Chicago of the Inman Line which departed from Liverpool 1885-04-29 and arrived to New York 1885-05-08 at 21:00 evening (Called at Queenstown 1885-04-29) She was carrying 1090 passengers. We do not have any ship registered in our database leaving Bergen on the 22nd, but that date might just be the date when the contract was signed. We have the S/S Hero of the Wilson Line departing Bergen for Hull 1885-04-25, and the S/S Norge departing Bergen for Newcastle 1885-04-25.

Thanks so much for the reply. I guess I have a bit of research to do. I have not found passenger lists for the ships you mentioned. It is possible that they are not available yet, or maybe never will be. If you have suggestions regarding how to proceed, please advise. Thanks again for your help.
