Hello, all! At long last, after 10 years of effort off and on, it looks like I'll be in possession of microfilms of "Nordiske Blade" newspaper next week. The issues available range from 1890-1902 and pertain to Norwegian-American life in Brooklyn. I'm going to try to save the scans as PDFs and make them freely available. In the meantime, let me know if there are any particular names you'd like me to look out for.

Thank you, Jackie! I still appreciate your help all those years ago! In the coming month I will have some updates to the mystery of my prior searches. ;-)

Here is a link for the complete scans of the "Nordiske Blade"-- all known copies that still exist from 1895 through 1902! This project took quite a few hours, but I hope someone will have an interest and be able to make use of the newspapers for their genealogy or other historic research! I haven't read each edition yet. This newspaper seemed to focus on news from the homeland, with less emphasis on local Brooklyn events. https://tesli-iverson-genealogy.weebly.com/nordiske-blade.html

Carrie,

Perhaps you've read the other most recent post going now about the aging of this website? How easy and/or expensive was using Weebly to construct your website?

By the way, I visited it to see the newspaper and read most of your family stories there, meget godt!

Thank you for the announcement about the challenges of maintaining this site. I can only imagine the programming and coding that go into maintaining such a large database. Weebly is free and easy to use for non-programmers (like me), but unfortunately it isn't really designed to support databases, searching, or message boards. I'm not sure of a better alternative to recommend, but I hope the features of Norway Heritage can be maintained in some capacity!
