In the 1850 US Census, the family is living in Winneconne, Winnebago, Wisconsin, United States.

There is a daughter born in Norway in 1845. I am assuming that is daughter Gunhild.

She is not listed in the 1860 US Census. I would assume that she has died or is working at a neighboring ]residance or farm or whatever. She would have been old enough by then to be out working. I have not been able to find her in the 1960 Census.

Oops, i was wrong. She is living with the family in the 1860 Census after all. I overlooked her because she was further down the page buried among the younger US born kids.

For the record here is the family in the 1870 US Census. The original record is practically unreadable. Bottom of the page so some of the family may be missing. I do not see them on the next page.

Well in 1880 Gunhild was 35 and unmarried and living with her family. So the question is did she get married. Finding her has been difficult because she seems to have americanized her first name and it is not certain what name she would use as her last name should she have gotten married. Example her brother Mathias used the last name of Olson when he married.

Mathias Olsen
Wisconsin, U.S., Marriage Records, 1820-2015
Name Mathias Olsen
Marriage Date 13 Apr 1882
Marriage Place Winchester, Wisconsin, USA
Description Winn (1881-1886)
Spouse
Annie Mira Olsen

Hi Anton

Appreciate your effort. Interesting how the names change over time. They probably didn't feel very attached to the origins in that respect.
Thone, Gunhild etc. Today Thone is rare in Norway, it's Tone.
Off course - sometimes they changed name info something suitable in a an englisk speaking country :-)

In Norway it's quite easy to follow surname, i.e stictly patronymes and/or the home place name as 'suffix'.

hilsen Petter
