My grandfather left Trondheim bound for Canada 1911-04-26.The ship from Trondheim was S/S Aaro owned by Royal line.Do anyone know if this ship sailed Bergen-Kristiania(Oslo) to Hull in GB? Or did the ship sailed Trondheim-Canada? If he changed in Hull, how can I find the ship Hull-Canada(Quebec?)? My grandfather was from Sweden, his name Oskar Eliasson born 1876-02-25. Kind regards Anders Eliasson Sweden

Hei Anders
The S/S Aaro belonged to the Wilson Line and was a feeder between Norway and England. The Royal Line, or "Canadian Northern Steamships Ltd" owned 2 ships in 1910, the S/S Royal Edward and the S/S Royal George. They sailed out of Avonmouth Dock, Bristol to Quebec and Montreal. This means that your grandfather traveled from Norway to England (Hull) on the Aaro, and then went to Bristol to board the transatlantic steamer for Canada.

Hi I am pretty new in this forum, but very glad I found it. I have been looking throug the Swedish CD Emigranten to see if it was true, that my Grandpa was a perioad of his life in North america. I found a link, which lead to this one.... Long story short, I found my grandpa left Trondheim 26 Feb 1913 (John Bernhard Edlund) with Ragnvald Jarl. He was aiming for Winnipeg, Manitoba. What was the most likely route to get there 1913? Same as above? I dont know yet if he reached his destination, but I know for sure he was back in Sweden mid 1920. I am trying to find out if he was in Winnipeg, waht he did there and why he moved back. Br Hans |
