Hi!
I'm trying to find info on my great grandfathers journey to US in 1900. He left from Ålesund(aalesund) in april 1900, for Wisconsin. His name was Peder Trondsen Malo. He was born in 1878. How can i find out more about him?? He travelled on a boat on the Allan line.I can't find him in the ellis island database. Would be great to find more, i'm working with this on behalf of his daughters. All info is good info. All the best, Levi. mail: lbm@ringsaker.kommune.no

The majority of the Allan Line passengers disembarked in Canadian ports, check out the Quebec passenger lists. According to the Digitalarkivet he signed up with the Allan Line on April 18, and he was from a place called Veø. This could be his family living on the Malo farm in Veø:

Tron Malo, farmer born 1851 and wife Sigrid Pedersdatter b. 1845

Hi,
the family in the previos post is most likely the one you're looking for.
Here is "Johan T. Malo" going to Wisconsin in 1901. His ticket is pre-paid (by brother Peder T. Malo?).

Hi again!

Well its been a few years :) and after having small kids and building a house i am back looking for more info on the above mentioned Peder Malo. I know he left Ålesund, i know all thats in the digital archives (Digitalarkivet).

What i need to know is the name of the Vessel that took him from Norway to England (i guess thats the way he took) and from England to Canada. When he left Ålesund DigArk states that he took the Allan Line, but didnt they enter the Allan LIne in england? (liverpool). Was there another operator on the journey from Ålesund - Hull?

Hi,
it looks like it would be S/S Tasso (2)

In 1901, the ship went Trondheim - Kr.sund - Ålesund - Bergen - Stavanger - Hull.

But the dates doesn't match 100%...
According to this page, Tasso (2) left Trondheim on March 13th, but Johan T. Malo's records shows that he left Ålesund on March 12th...

Maybe the ticket was purchased on the 12th, and the ship left Ålesund either later on the 13th, or on the 14th.

Hopefully Borge will enlight you more on this..., it was after all his great great grandfather who was the head agent for this Allan Line office in Trondheim...

Could not locate him on any available U.S. online databases, he most likely would have come through Canada. You can rent the Quebec microfilm passenger lists at a local Family History Center:

No set of lists, however, is ever totally complete.

The emigration register was usually dated the day when the contract was shown before the police. In some cases you can find the date of departure in addition, and in other cases only the date of departure. It was quite common to do the paper work the day before, or several days before the actual departure.

Hello. My name is William Malo. My family comes from Nesjestranda - Molde- Norway. This sounds very interesting as Molde is only a short trip from Ålesund, and all the Malo's in Norway is related in some sort

Do you know the name of his father or other close family? My uncle Ole Tom Malo has our Family book, unfortunately i'm currently in Oslo.

Maybe there is a connection?

William bakken Malo.

I did find a Peter Malo b abt 1879 arriving in the US abt 1900 in the 1910 census in Arbor Vitae, Vilas, Wisconsin. He is a boarder and is a laborer at a saw mill. I have not been able to find anything after that.

I found a Peder T Malo in the Border Crossings from Canada, altho, the age is wrong, but the other info matches. He arrived in Quebec, Canada and crossed on 10 May 1900 on the ship Parisian from Liverpool, England, going to Wisconsin to meet a cousin Ule (Ole?) Lidewich?
