I've been away from the site for a few months and have noticed some changes in format, but have also encountered new problems getting around in the Forum.

For example, the All Forums button, indicates it should direct me to http://www.norwayheritage.com/snitz/default.asp, but when all the processing is done I wind with a blank screen. The Jump To bar often has the same result. In both cases, Backing Out is the only way to get back to an active screen.

What's Up?

Thanks, JK

Hi JK

Thanks for reporting this. I am beginning to wonder if maybe we have a bug to sort out in the code. I would help me a lot if you could let me know what kind of browser you are using and what version of that browser. It would also help if you could let me know what links you did follow, and if it helped to reload the page. If you prefer you can e-mail me with the info or just post it here.

Hi Børge

I'm using Netscape 4.75 on a Mac G4 in version 9.2.1, which has worked fine until July.

The Forum link on the Main Page still seems to be dead. Clicking a current topic gets me down to the correct page, where I can log in.

The All Forums link at the current topic level is dead. I've successfully gone thru the Active Topics up-link as well as the Jump To Suggestions and questions drop-down menu to get here. The Main Page link on the current topic level works, but very slowly. Backing from the Main Page to the current topic doesn't work.

Reloading the page does not appear to change any of these symptoms.

I'll keep trying links.

Thanks for your help, JK

OK - I was able to find an old CD with a copy of Netscape 4.05 (beat that - anyone running older versions?). Well, that made it easier for me to find the bug, the forum should now work with browsers at least as old as that (the CD was in a computer magazine I bought back in 1998 - I don't think it is much different from NS 4.0 which goes even further back). Let me know if there are any other problems than those mentioned previously.

Hi Børge,
So glad you didn't throw out that magazine! The links are all working and I've been all around the site w/o encountering any problems.

Thanks so much for your help.

Best, JK

Oh well, I try to hide some stuff away, my wife is always on the lookout for it, she'd rather see it in the bin!

Hi Borge!

I've been getting a blank grey screen when I call up the site on my Macintosh Power PC 6500 running OS 8.6 with Netscape v. 4.5.1. I don't use the machine all that often, but this month it won't show your site at all. The site works fine on my G4 Powerbook.

Have you changed any code recently, or is it just my old Macosaurus being outdated? Might your previous fix cover its system as well?

Thanks hopefully.

Best, JK

No, there have not been any changes made. I'm on vacation right now and my family have made it very clear to me that they will not accept any work being dome on the web project by me the next weeks to come

The reason might be the redirecting script not functioning with your old software. The address www.norwayheritage.com automatically redirects you to www.norwayheritage.com/ships/index.asp" target="_blank">http://www.norwayheritage.com/ships/index.asp

Try entering th full path: www.norwayheritage.com/ships/index.asp" target="_blank">http://www.norwayheritage.com/ships/index.asp - if you didn't already?

Hi Børge:

Thanks for the tip. I'll try the full path.

Now, step away from the computer.

Have a great vacation!

Best, JK
