Thanks to my friend Glen Carson for directing me to this site. Wow,this is great! Thanks to all of you for your information. We have been stalled at Martha Olsen, my grandmother, and unable to find anything about her family. Now we know she had siblings! But we would like to know more about them, where they lived, died and if they have families etc. Also we had never seen anything about Martha's grandparents so I will look at the sites you listed. My biggest goal is to find out if there are any remaining relatives in Norway that we could get in touch with. I have tried to find out more about Charlotte Gilbo, the aunt who gave Grandma the ticket to come to the US. I don't know Charlotte's maiden name.

According to the 1900 US census, Charlotte was born about April 1841 and came to US about 1870. If she is an aunt that is the sister of Martha's father her name would likely have been Charlotte Andersdtr / Andersdatter. If she is an aunt, that is the sister of Martha's mother her name would likely have been Charlotte Christophersdtr / Christophersdatter. Many, many different spellings of both her given and her patronymic name are possible. She or her family were likely in Vernon county, Wisconsin by at least 1889 when the daughter Tillie married Andrew Gilbertson.

Good Luck
