If Ane died in 1878, I doubt she would sign a death notice 20 yrs later---

If she did die in 1878, but we don't know that, other than the OP's unsubstantiated statement.

Here is a link to show that the records 1878 and up for the Domkirke in Stavanger are not online in either the official or copy form:
https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/kb/browse?clerical_parishes%5B%5D=1103Q&start_year=&end_year=&text=

Must need to find another kind of record to cover

Here's a link to the dodfallsprotokol of Stavanger starting 1878. I've looked through it and didn't find any likely Annes but anybody else is welcome to have at it:
SAST, Stavanger byfogd, 5/52/52B/L0003: Liste over anmeldte dødsfall, 1877-1885, p. 13

Third up from bottom on right hand side:

In the 1875 Census Ane Bordsen is listed as the wife of Bernt Bardsen (sp?) and with one child.

Next group is the wrong family

In the 1885 Census there is a family Børe Baardsen with wife Ane Baardsen and six children. Looks a lot like the same family.

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01053290023196

1900 Census

https://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ftliste_e.aspx?ft=1900&knr=1103&kenr=036&bnr=0007&lnr=03

In the 1910 Census is a Ane Baardsen with family again same group as in 1885.

One son Johan Baardsen is listed as living in New York for the pat 25 yers.

Listed as a Returned Norwegian American from Brooklyn. Gone from 1885 to 1890.

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01036615030030

Another son Bernhard also listed as living in New York.

Record for his baptism.

this is the right family, A new daughter Ingaborg born in 1977, mother Ane dies in 1878 , son Elias goes to sea and father Brent takes baby girl to America where maternal family has settled. Nobody knows the actual date of Ane's death or what she died of. I am writing the family story and would like to know more . Thank you for your help

Since the after 1877 records are not online apparently, the only record that might suffice for Anne's death are the dodfallsprotokol. There appears to be no Ann (appropriately described) dying in 1878 and listed in them. The other years could be searched through.

Where did Bernt go in US?

Usually going to sea, meant most often after confirmation (a few cases differ from that).

OK so the 1875 Census family is correct.

This must be the marriage of Bernt and Anne.
