No ages given for the folks.
The original marriage record does not reveal the newly-weds age either. Source: Møre og Romsdal county, Kristiansund in Kvernes, Parish register (official) nr. 572A04 (1784-1819), Marriage records 1819, page 334.

My computer isn't letting me open Google links. I will have to have my son see about this.
Anyway, on a search for "Ole Olsen Hammer in Kristiansund" I get this hit:
Ole Olsen Hammer død før 1865 gift 28/3-1819 i Kvernes, Kristiansund med Karen Christina Abrahamsdtr. Hammer f. 5/3-1797 Død etter 1875 ... So Karen is born 05 March 1797 (if the post is correct)
forum.arkivverket.no/.../175083-doedsfall-i-kristia...
Thank you for the marriage link! It looks like it says "ungkarl matros Ole..." (bachelor sailor Ole...), so again, the same job is given. That certainly fits with Charles in Brooklyn.
I'm so excited about your post on Dis-Norge. |

Interesting! link
Ole Olsen Hammer dead before 1865, married 28/3-1819 in Kvernes, Kristiansund with Karen Christina Abrahamsdtr. Hammer born. 5/3-1797. Dead after 1875. Dead after 1875 indicates he have found her in census-1875. The complete census in not online, so he could have used a local library.

His question was if they (the State Archive in Trondheim) had death register protocols from Kristiansund 1850 - 1900, and he wanted information about Ole Olsen Hammer, Karen Christina Abrahamsdtr. Hammer, Fredrik Christian Melbye and Ingeborg Martha Melbye born Hammer. Plus information about any inheritors.
The answer was that Kristiansund byfogd have an archive (a box) of death notices 1824-1893. The protocols starts 1891, but there is no name register until 1935.

Ah - so a person would have to go to the archive and sit and look through the box. |

In the last skifteprotokol index listed for Kristiansund at digitalarkivet there is a listing for Hammer, Iver Pederson. Obviously not Ole Olsen Hammer...Perhaps there might be something in the real estate records? |

Interesting! I found Andreas Hammer going to America, but because of my computer problems I am not able to see much. Sorry about that. I'll come back to him, to see if it's a match.
Just to keep your list of siblings in front of me on this page, here they are: Inger Martha b. 19 Feb 1819 Andreas Oluf b. 20 Aug 1821 (Ole is mentioned as Ole Olsen Hammer for this baptism) Olina Christina b. 10 June 1827 Lars Andreas b. 20 Oct 1829 Johanna Birgitha b. 9 Mar 1832 Carl Johan... The two youngest die (Bernard August and Baby) |

Ha ha. I'm sure a trip to Norway would be wonderful.
This is Jack's family; some things he's said make me believe a trip from his home in the Philippines to Norway would probably not be in his immediate future. Too bad.
I was picturing you there, at the archives...
The person who posted the question about the death records in Kristiansund may have gone to the archives already, who knows.
I do want to visit Norway too - my children's father has only Norwegian blood in his veins. Many of that family are from Voss.

The most recent post of the person seeking that info about the death notices for Kristiansund was in December 2011--maybe they went and have answered the ultimate question? |

Yes, and born in Christianssund / Kristiansund. Thanks for that find! "Our" Karen needs a daughter Elen born in 1824 to be the same. It would be natural for her to have a child between Andreas Oluf b. 1821 and Olina Christina b.1827.
It's good to have that phone and address for the person who was investigating Ole Olsen Hammer family. How do you find these things??? Maybe Jack himself will want to write to him. We would like to know if the person has found information that could link this Hammer family in Kristiansund to Charles Wilson in Brooklyn. |
