Yes, I have in the beginning. James is found in my family plot along with about 30+ people. He is the only one I could not relate. All I have is that his father was also James and his mother was Anna Hollander It said all were born in Sweden. He died at 63 years old on Oct 15,1915
I was hoping this was someone who jumped ship with Charles. Maybe a friend or a relative. Sweden could have been a mistake.
As for Charles, I have been looking over the census records and they seem consistent. So the 1900 saying he was born in June of 1835, I believe is accurate. |

Well dying in 1915 at age 63 means he was born about 1852, not really a contemporary of Charles Wilson, he would have been only 11 when Charles appeared in US records... A curiosity anyway. |

That's wonderful. I have never found that. It certainly could be him given the atrocious and by sound spelling census takers. His wife is not in the grave. Very interesting. thank you.I will hold on to this.quote: Originally posted by lyndal40

Hmmm? He could have been someone that Charles invited to come? He must have known him or someone slipped him into the family plot unaware! |

Since James Robinson worked as a longshoreman, maybe of the brotherhood? But he was buried 13 years after Charles! In 1910 James, his wife Mary and his father-in-law were all living at 336 Prospect. |

Did it say 336 Prospect is where they lived? If so it is proof that is him. where did you see that? |

I can't send you the image of the 1910 census. But the street name is written in the left margin perpendicular to the rows. The house number is part of the detail to the left of the names in the first columns on the page. |

I believe you and know how it is written. That is a wonderful breakthrough. I wonder what happened to her? I will try to see if he is in the other indicies as Robertson. I have a gggrandfather named william Stephenson. I found him listed in 1870 as Stepheon,Millia -Real sharp writing! :) |

Hello all,
It’s fun that you have investigated James Robinson because I know Jack has been very curious about who he is! (why this Swedish guy is buried in the family plot in Brooklyn).
Jack, What again is the source for Charles’ exact birth day of 09 June 1834?

Birth year is off a little but how many Charles Wilsons, Lighterman born in Sweden can there be.
