"I suspect Anna Halvorsdotter to be born in Skrautvaal, Nord-Aurdal County in Valdres, Norway on Apr. 3, 1856, a twin, daughter of Halvor Haldorson and Marit Olsdotter, then servants at the Gigstad farm.
The 1865 census shows the family as crofters at the Brenden croft under the Dokken farm in Nord-Aurdal."

I hope this helps...

Sincerely yours,

Lars E. Oyane

Lars, we wondered how you came to identify this Anne as Anne Sorbo who died in 1905?

The obituary for Marie Nelson (whose maiden name given variously as Halvorson or Gystad) in the Grand Forks Herald, did not mention any surviving siblings nor her parents's names. The only pertinent detail was that
"...she was born November 28, 1868 and came with her parents to Goodhue County, Minnesota when she was two years old...."
