Kċre,
Wowie Zowie! I hope Lucas follows up with that connection!
L: Here is the finding of the only Svend Iverson in the Iron Range Interpretive database of naturalizations. At that site copy of the record can be ordered. Typically, depending on the date the record was filed (and Svend filed by 1900) you might get a date, month or year that the person landed at which American port and the legal authority they renounce as they file.

According to my copy of The National Gazetteer of the United State of America, 1990 Concise, there is only one Lamberton in the U.S. and is the one found in Redwood County, Minnesota.

Hi Jim,
Great find and I think you're probably right and very interesting that the questionable last name of Svend in the Kristiania list headed to Lamberton is Lindtvedt Svend's residence at the time of the baptism!

It must be him. Halvor Svendsen born out of wedloc on Videsjorden April 29. 1882. Svend lived on Lindtvedt in Nore and Sigrid was from Videsjorden. For both parents it was the first child born out of wedloc "Begge 1ste Leiemaal" (last column)

Whoa! Serious? So Svend left a son in Norway??? This is a shock. Same Svend Iverson, the immigrant? OK- So The sons name was Halvor Svendsen was born April 29, 1882 in Lindvedt in Nore. What was the wifes name? Svend worked in different areas between 1883 when he immigrated to 1888 when he married Lisa Olsen Stendalen. WHat happened to the son? Your letter said they there are now people living in Livdvedt in Norway right now? Any history on this?

Hi.
I am not sure if this is the right Halvor Svendsen in 1910, the date of birth don´t correspond but he is the only Halvor Svendsen born 1882 in Uvdal (Nore) married to Margit Gjermundsen born 1884 (not 1888) two sons and a daughter. Occ. farm worker on Frydenlund Wrong Halvor Svendsen, father was Svend Henriksen Brandsgaard, this Halvor was born in Viesjordeje, a sub farm under Viesjord.
I think only the person from Kongsberg (or perhaps the library where the Bygdbooks from Norw are kept) can answere that, he lives on the same adress today, not sure if the e-mail adress still works. The library in Kongsber is temporary closed, its vacation time in Norway.

Halvor Svendsen might be Svend Iversons (immigrant) twin brother. he was born 1862. He died 1864. Shortly after Svend's (immigrant) father died |

Following up on Jackie's link to the Emmigration record repeated here http://digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=1&filnamn=emikra1&medbilete=&sokpostnr=461#a0
I am not sure how it happens but the link above does not link to the page I thought it would and did when I tested it.
It was not possible to find Svend J Lindtvedt in the immigrations records of Ancestry.com, so looked for others on the page, specifically Thore Nils* and was able to find his immigration record. Looking at the others on nearest pages finds Thore and Brynhild Lindtvedt listed as Thore and Brynhilde Lindhurst. and the next in line is Loend F Lindhurst. I think that is Svend J Lindtvedt. Here is the data.
Name: Loend F Lindhurst Arrival Date: 20 Mar 1883 Birth Year: abt 1864 Age: 19 Gender: Male Ethnicity/Race/Nationality: Norwegian Place of Origin: Norway Port of Departure: Copenhagen, Denmark Destination: United States of America Port of Arrival: New York Port Arrival State: New York Port Arrival Country: United States Ship Name: Island
Unfortunately no useful destination information was found in the record. |

He might have come to America by himself but he travelled on a ship with a lot of other people. 16 pages of them actually. Three of those people all travelled under the last name of Lindtvendt. They may or may not have know one another but must have come from the same farm Lindtvedt.

However the transcriber listed their names as Lindhurst making Svend very difficult to find.

Not likely, this Brynhild is listed as having been born in 1855 whereas Svend was born in 1862, much too close together.
Name: Bryhild Lindtvedt [Bryhild Lindtaedt] Home in 1900: Storden, Cottonwood, Minnesota Age: 45 Birth Date: Jan 1855 Birthplace: Norway Race: White Gender: Female Relationship to head-of-house: Wife Mother: number of living children: 6 Mother: How many children: 7 Spouse's Name: Thore Lindtvedt Marriage year: 1882 Marital Status: Married Years married: 18
