Already tried searching that source, but not been able to locate him in those lists. Nevertheless, I am so happy you - and other - helped me locate him in the US. |

From Montreal, they would take the train to Sarnia, a 2-3 days journey. From Sarnia, crossing the St. Clair river on a ferry (the Canada/US boarder) to Port Huron. Then train to Detroit, then change train to go to Grand Haven, and then a new steamer over Lake Michigan to Milwaukee. And finally train to Minneapolis and further towards Fargo. The total journey from the first day in Quebec until the final destination Wilkin county, could take up to 2 weeks.
Dear jwiborg, I really appreciated your sketched map. I would really like to include it in a family document. Apparently, what I have found is that my Great Grandfather most likely ended up in Fergus Falls, and not Wilkin County when he arrived in 1893. Fergus Falls was at that time already connected to Wadena by train.
Would it be possible for you to sketch a map like that ending up in Fergus Falls? Everything alike, but end stop Fergus Falls instead of ending up in Wilkin County. I can happily pay you for that job.
Best regards
