Thank you. It's a bit hopeless to say that I am looking forward to visiting a graveyard/cemetery, but the puzzle will be complete if I find their graves next summer.

Hi Anne,

Memorial Park Cemetery is a lovely cemetery near the intersection of Columbia Road and Gateway Drive in the town of Grand Forks, ND. The cemetery has an onsite office and they keep a huge map of the cemetery and the manager (Mr. Purcell) will be able to direct you to the spot.

Marie is buried in Grave #2 of Lot #072 of Section 14 in the 1st Addition.

Hilsen,
Jackie M.

You have really been a nice acquaintance! Thank you - we'll surely find the place when we visit next July/August. Marie and Severin didn't get any children of their own. Marie's nice - my maternal grandmother - was invited to come over and live with the couple in Grand Forks. Her father said no. He needed her on the farm, and, as she was also the oldest of seven, she had to babysit for her younger brothers and sisters. My mother and I have talked about this; we are quite certain that if my grandmother had left, she would not have come back. So that puts things in perspective. Most certainly I wouldn't be here now.
Tusen takk.
Vennlig hilsen
Anne

As far as Kenyon, Goodhue county in Minnesota and Lars and Andrea Tuv are concerned: I have received information from you all that Lars died in 1942, and an obit tells about him in December the same year. I therefore assume that he died late that fall. Would it be possible to find his exact date of death and where he is buried? Lars and Andrea also were married in 1888. Is it possible to find out where - or possibly in which church?
Hilsen Anne

This is most likely him. From Ancestry.com.

Name: Lars Tuve
Death Date: 30 Nov 1942
Death County: Goodhue
State File Number: 004657
Certificate Number: 004657
Certificate Year: 1942

You can also find him here under Lars Tuve, Goodhue County, 1942

http://people.mnhs.org/dci/Results.cfm?CFID=12209595&CFTOKEN=29603442

If you an order a copy of the Death Certificate from the Minnesota Historical Society there is a very good chance that it will tell you where he is buried or at the very least who provided the funeral service and that firm can tell you where he is buried.

Goodhue county does have a web site for its Historical Society which also has a e-mail address. Perhaps they can help you with the question about the marriage of Lars and Andrea.

A very long time ago I got plenty of useful information about emigrated family-members from Valdres in the county of Oppland. Now I am wondering if I could ask for a renewal of some of the information:
Marie and Severin Gustafsson lived in Grand Forks, ND. I got their address, but it has "disappeared" for me. Could someone please help me find it again?

And what is the exact address of Memorial Park Cemetery?

Would it, eventually, be possible to find out where and when Severin Gustafsson was born - I know he was born in Sweden, but I don't know exactly where. And when did he emigrate?

Mange hilsener

Hi Anne,

Memorial Park Cemetery office is at:

1003 N 23rd St, Grand Forks, ND 58203
(701) 772-0988

Severin Gustafson died 14 Dec 1957 and was buried 19 Dec 1957 in same plot as Marie, 1st addition, Section 14, Lot 072, Grave 1 at Memorial Park.

If you're planning a Grand Forks trip, his obituary could be looked for on microfilm of the Grand Forks Herald at the Grand Forks Public Library. Their marriage records are on file at Special Collections at Chester Fritz Library on campus of University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Early Grand Forks Herald 1879-1922 are indexed and searchable and partially viewable at www.genealogybank.com in the historical newspaper section. Later editions of Grand Forks Herald about 1987-date are searchable and partially viewable at www.newslibrary.com

Thank you so very much for help and good details/information. My husband and I are planning a trip to MN (the cities) and Grand Forks in September 2012, so this is very helpful information.
Mange hilsener
