Hi, I'm looking for a passenger list for the St. Louis, Red Star Line. I know the exact sailing dates, and my grandfather was on the ship. July 14 from Southhampton to New York July 21. Does anyone have a list? Thank you for your help. Immigration records from Ellis Island were burned. Hope to hear from you.
Terri

You didn't say what year of sailing. Please note my Port of New York Passenger Records article on this website, it may help you . If they immigrated between 1892-1924, their records would be on the Ellis Island website listed in the article.
New York passenger lists have also been microfilmed by LDS, you can rent the films at a local Family History Center. You can search their catalog on www.familysearch.org or you can also rent them from the National Archives.,www.nara.gov but using the Family History Center is quicker and easier.

Jo Anne,
Thank you for the information. I was so excited I forgot to post the year. He came in 1900. I have searched the Ellis Island site high and low and cannot come up with his info. I am now trying any spelling combination possible. They really "butchered" some names. I am so glad that I found this site to correspond on. Terri

Terri, try this database - www.jewishgen.org/databases/eidb/ --
this links directly (with permission) to the Ellis Island database and has several different search options/shortcuts that may help you. You can also separately search for ship's pictures.
Good luck.
