I am fairly new to the family history search and already have problems. I am looking for some guidance with the Digital Archives. I am looking for surname Hanson,but have been told that before my great grandparents changed it it may have been Johanson or variations of. 1st name is Nikolai,wife Minnie(maybe Mina or Wilhemina?) and they were from Drammen. I have been successful in getting the area and the Hansons but no luck in locating. Nik came over to Canada is 1903 and then had his family brought over in 1908 to settle. My grandfather was born in April,1895 in Drammen? along with his brothers & sister.
Anyone have any ideas where to look next?

Hi,
this Nikolai Hans. is living in Drammen, and is born 19-MAR-1894. But it doesn't look like he has any brothers or sisters...
I can not find him in any emigrant lists either.
But one question: I assume he didn't travel alone in 1903, at the age of 8?

Thanks for the response Jan. My Nikolai Hanson was born in 1875 not sure where,but he was living in the Drammen area when he emigrated in 1903(he w/have been 28 yrs old). His wife & kids came over in 1908 after he picked up a homestead in Canada. His children were Karl,born 1895,Asta in 1897, Thorlief in 1900 & Norman in 1904. I know the last date will probably raise some questions but I am thinking that Minnie was pregnant with the last child when Nik came over. I am not sure what time of year he came . Your help is appreciated,thanks
