The PHILIPPE was Ship rigged, 794 regisered tons, John Castoff commanding. She was a regular Havre packet, from 1837 through 1844, at least. The New York Herald on 11 Jnauary 1839 reported "Havre packet LOUIS PHILIPPE, Capt John Castoff made an 1838 passage New York to Havre, 3293 miles, in 13 days, 20 hours, a new course record."

TECUMSEH was bark rigged, 391 registerd tons. Captian was Hezekiah Ripley. 1843 seems to be her only NY- Havre passage. She normally operated in the NY -NO trade, A bit too small,I would judge.

All the above from Cutler. Jim Heg
