She may be referring to this family referred to as Haug in several records. Birth place is not Ringerike, Buskerud however.

I have not found a record that his brother lived in Minnesota under the Houg name.

However there are records for a Jens Anderson living in Minnesota with a birth date that is close.

But it does allow you to post a link as jkmarler did.

It is not unusual to find these obits with incorrect information. That is likely true in this case The most likely person to fit the information you have referred to is Jens Jensen posted above by Hopkins.

Here is the original baptism record for this person. His father is listed as Jens Petersen Haug. See number 67 at the very bottom of the page.

Some of the confusion about his birth date may be due to the fact that in his confirmation record his name is given as Jens Jensen Haug but his birth date is listed as May 2, 1840. Same parents in both records.

Here is likely the FAG record for your Jens J Houg. Name of the wife seems to fit as does the location and date of death. Here his birth date is given as May 2, 1840. As Hopkins noted above there is some confusion as to whether his birth date was May 1 or May 2.
