Can someone help me please?
I have searched the online national archives in the USA and also digital archives in Norway... and I am totaly in need of assistance.
A brother of my great grandfather I have been told emigrated to North America, and most likely to Canada. I have also searched several passenger lists...

Could anyone assist me, or tell me where I could search?

Name: Andor Olufsen, born 24.03.1887.
Possible emigrated 1910-1925 ??

Appreciate any kind of help! Thanks in advance!

Coming from Våler, Hedmark, Norway he would have been most likely to have sailed from Oslo/Kristiania.

Slightly different birth date but found in 1910 Norway:

Then in 1875 census prior to Andor's arrival:

Thanks all for your replies.

Unfortunately this is not the same “Andor Olufsen”.
I am aware of this person who came to North Dakota in 1910,
but I have also “control” on “my Andor” until 1910,
as I find him in both 1891, 1900 and 1910 census in Norway..

It’s after 1910 census I have no clue what happened to him,
and when/where he went to North America...

I know he married to Elida Pedersdatter, born 19.10.1883.
But they divorced, and those who have told me that he emigrated to America, also say that he went alone.

Where was he in those Norwegian censuses? Can you provide links to those so we can see them?

When did Oluf, Andor's father die?

Oluf Hansen Silkoset is mentioned in this volume, have you looked at it?

Yes, I have checked both Elverum and Våler bygdebok, but nothing helped me there with what happened with Andor... its all prior to "Andors disappearance" :-)

Here is Andor in the 3 Census which is available through Digitalarkivet.no...

1891
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01052738003380

1900
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01037063003350

1910
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01036410004143

Andors father, Oluf Hansen, took the name Silkoset after the area the family lived.
So Andor also maybe took this name.. in the 1910 census he is at his parents in laws house... and here he is now named Silkoset...

But I have seached for both Andor Olufsen and Andor Silkoset in all sites I have come over... But maybe this new information can help you... to help me... ?! :-)

Thanks

But again, I was told by several that he was divorced from Elida... and that he most probably emigrated to North America alone...

People usually do not just go off to just anywhere. Is there a friend or relative living somewhere in America that he might have gone to. A location to narrow the search would help.

How about the out migration record for Våler to get a date as to when he left?

there is no such as migration protocol in Våler... unfortunately...
thats why I have no tracks on him on this side...
Have asked many elderly people about him, but no one can say exactly what happened to him... just "probably"....

So then no one knows if he went to someone he knew or if he went to the "land of promise" for a new start...

He did have a niece though, who emigrated to Canada earlier than he must have emigrated (if he did...) - and I have good control on her ancestors...
Have good contact with her grandchildren... in Canada.. and have also asked them if they have heard about "an Andor"... but no results there either...

Oline Nerby... married name Oline Quesnel...
Born 1898. died in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada in 1948.

But again... her ancestors know nothing... but this is information about a relative already living in North America when he probably went.... :-)

Have you looked at the death notices of all of his siblings to find if he is mentioned as a survivor?

According to a family database in Ancestry Andor's father Oluf died 21 April 1928. Sometimes Dodfallsprotokol exist that aren't mounted online. It might be worth writing to the archives to find if that is the case for the parish Oluf lived at when he died.

There is a good Manitoba vital records database and also a Manitoba newspaper database online that might be worth a go.

Oline came through Halifax on 24 March 1926. She was headed to her cousin Lars M Braaten in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan.
