Hi, this is my first attempt on this forum and and I hope someone can help me find information or point me in the right direction. I found Lars in the 1900 census for Drammen. He was born in 1883 in Frogner Sogn, Lier. If my translation is correct he was an apprentice printer. I found him again in the Ellis Island records arriving in New York January 26th 1908 on the ship Arabic from Liverpool. I know this was him because the address he gave as going to is the address of his wife's sister and brother-in law. The puzzle is that he is listed on the passenger list as single when in fact he had a wife Anna Prunkl(German-Hungarian) and a son,Lars Ferdinand Larsen, who was born 12th July 1907 in Austria on the way to America. I can find no record of Anna and the baby until the 1910 census for Philadelphia Pennsylvania. If anyone can help me figure this out I would be very grateful.

Are you sure that Lars and Anna were married before they emigrated? There is this Anna Prunkl destination Philidelphia. Prunkl, Anna Hungarian, German St Peter September 19, 1903 17y F S Ship Auguste Victoria Hamburg, Germany Do you have their marriage records Also on Lars emigration record it says that he had been in the US twice before. it looks like 1903 and 1907 so he could have fathered a child and they didn't marry until later. Do you have the birth record for Lars Ferdinand? Another possibility is that they just listed his marital status wrong. Carla

Hi Carla The Anna Prunkl who came in 1903 is the same Anna .She visited her sister Margrit Prunkl who later married Jacob Friedrich and that is who Lars put as visiting in 1908. I do not have a birth record for Lars Ferdinand but I have his application for a social security number in 1936 and it gives his birth place as Austria-Hungary. The family story is that Uncle Lal as he was known was born on the way to America. Thank you for your help. Cathiel.quote: Originally posted by Brining
